If you are planning a camping trip, you might be thinking about the weather. No one wants to go camping when it’s raining or cold, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t.
Camping while it’s cold can still be a lot of fun! If you don’t mind the cold, consider taking a camping trip where it will be a little chilly! If you are camping while it’s cold, here is how to stay warm in a tent, so you don’t freeze!
Put dry clothes at the bottom of your sleeping bag for extra warmth
Layers are your friend when it comes to camping and especially while you are sleeping! Put your dry clothes at the bottom of your sleeping bag to give you a little hot spot while you are sleeping. This is great if you don’t need a full extra blanket over you, but you need a little extra warmth!
Layers are your friend
Sleeping in layers can help you better adjust your temperature to the needs of the outside. Layers are also important for staying warm while you’re in a tent! Extra blankets and even jackets, while you are sleeping, can make a world of difference even if you don’t usually add in some additional layers.
Don’t go to bed cold
Go for a jog or find a way to warm yourself up before you go to bed! Never fall asleep while you are still cold. You will have a much harder time falling asleep for one thing. The second being that if you are feeling cold, you might be cold! Find a way to warm yourself up, whether you need to go for a run really quick or add an extra blanket to your sleeping bag.
Add a sleeping bag liner to your bed
If you are someone who gets cold easily or you’re camping in the cold, make sure you invest in a sleeping bag liner. These liners will give you some extra insulation while you’re sleeping and help you stay warm! This is especially important if your sleeping bag isn’t really built for colder temperatures!
Don’t get a massive tent for just a few people
The idea of having a massive tent while you’re camping sounds like a dream! You want to be able to walk around and move about your tent, right? Wrong! Your tent should mainly be used for sleeping and getting dressed if needed. Do not get more tent than you actually need! Having a huge tent will make it colder at night and cause you to feel cold while you’re in there! Pay attention to the sleeping recommendations on your tent, so you don’t buy a tent that is too big for you and your family. If you’re unsure, set up your tent before you go and test it out!
Even during the spring months, it can still get pretty cold at night! Having these tips handy will make sure that you stay warm and safe while you are camping during the cold.
