Water intake

If you are feeling lazy or always hungry, you might not be getting enough water. Getting eight glasses a day is very hard for those who don’t drink water constantly. To help make it easier, I make this one of the habits that I track in my bullet journal! Having a cup of water that I fill in with each glass makes it easy to keep track!

Step count

Whether you are committed to working out regularly or not, keeping track of your step count can help! While you should always aim for 10,000 steps a day, this might not be realistic for everyone. Set a goal for yourself for how many steps you want to get in each day, and then work toward that every day.

Calories and diet

What you eat and how much you eat are two important factors in our diet. Two thousand calories of junk food won’t make you feel the same as two thousand calories of kale. Keep a journal of what you are eating each day and note roughly how many calories each meal is. This will give you valuable insight into your eating habits and help you determine if you need to adjust your eating habits. If you’re trying to eat less junk food, it might help track the healthy foods you eat or the unhealthy foods you’re eating.

Sleep

We all need to get in at least eight hours of sleep a night, but are we getting that? Find out for yourself by tracking your sleep cycles throughout the week. This can help you determine if you need to go to sleep earlier or if you’re getting too much sleep. Getting too much sleep can be just as bad for you as not getting enough. If you wear a fitness tracker, you can track your REM cycles and other sleep info.

Work time

Turning off your workday can be very hard, especially if you have a flexible work schedule. This is why it’s so important to keep track of your work hours. How much are you getting paid to put in? How much do you have to put in versus how much you are putting in? If you’re feeling always connected to work or having difficulty disconnecting, try tracking your work hours. You might find you’re spending too much time doing unpaid work.

Not all of these habits will apply to everyone; however, even just tracking one of these habits can make you feel better in the new year.
