Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep
As a busy mom, it can be hard to get enough sleep. If you are a new mom, then I understand that this is likely not going to be the case for you. However, everyone else who doesn’t have a newborn should be trying to aim for at least seven hours of sleep each night. If you aren’t able to get enough sleep at night, there is no shame in taking a short nap. Just make sure that this doesn’t turn into a daily habit.
Get up and get moving
You don’t have to take a pilates class or hit the gym to get moving each day. Get up and go for a walk, even if it’s just around your house! Make sure you are scheduling time each day to get moving, or you will become lazy and less motivated throughout the day. If you work a regular 9-5 job, then consider taking breaks to get moving every hour.
Take care of your body
Taking care of your body is about more than just the food you put in your body. When you are sick, make sure you get extra rest. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Take care of your skin and your nails. Do your body a favor and give it the love that it needs. Your body works hard for you, so treat it to some quality care now and then.
Set aside some “me” time each day
Every day, set aside a little bit of time to do something for yourself. This could be something small like reading a book or something a little bigger like an at-home spa day. Find something you enjoy and add it into your schedule like an appointment. Work with the time you have and be flexible. You may need to get up earlier to get in your time each day.
Do something selfish
This sounds bad, but doing something for yourself with no one else in mind is a fantastic feeling now and then! Eat a piece of cake or get yourself a new necklace that’s on sale. As long as you don’t go overboard with this mentality, you can still treat yourself and spoil yourself! This rewards yourself for all your hard work, even if others don’t say a word.
Self-care days don’t have to be something that takes all day! Many of these tips are tasks that take just a few minutes but will have a significant impact on your day.
