Kat Saka’s Kettle Review: Is the Outpost Mix Worth It?

Wondering if Kat Saka’s Kettle is worth visiting? Here’s my honest review of the famous Outpost Mix, Star Wars Coke bottles, and why I stop here every trip.
Estimated reading time: 5 minutes
When most people think about food in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, they immediately think of the Ronto Wrap.
I get it.
It’s one of the best things to eat in Hollywood Studios.
But if you’re looking for a snack instead of a meal, I think Kat Saka’s Kettle deserves a stop too.
It’s a tiny stand tucked away in Black Spire Outpost, and if you aren’t paying attention, it’s easy to walk right past it.
That would be a mistake.
Kat Saka’s Kettle is home to one of my favorite snacks in Hollywood Studios—the Outpost Mix.
It’s colorful, crunchy. sweet, and salty.
And for some reason, it’s almost impossible to stop eating once you open the bag.

If you’re already spending time in Galaxy’s Edge, consider making a reservation at Oga’s Cantina. It’s one of the most immersive experiences in the land, and it’s a fun place to grab a themed drink while soaking in the Star Wars atmosphere.
Atmosphere
Calling Kat Saka’s Kettle a “restaurant” feels like a bit of a stretch.
It’s really just a small snack stand.
There’s nowhere to sit, and there isn’t a huge menu.
Honestly…
That’s part of its charm.
You grab your snack and keep exploring Galaxy’s Edge.
Maybe you’re heading for Rise of the Resistance.
Maybe you’re waiting for your Lightning Lane at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Or maybe you’re just wandering around Black Spire Outpost looking at all the little details Disney hid throughout the land.
Whatever you’re doing, the Outpost Mix is the kind of snack that’s easy to carry with you.

Looking for something a little more filling? Baseline Taphouse is one of my favorite places to take a break in Hollywood Studios. Pair the giant Bavarian pretzel with the charcuterie plate, and you’ve got one of the best snack combinations in the park.
What I Ordered
Outpost Mix
This was one of those snacks that completely surprised me.
I’ll admit it…
The first time I saw it, I wasn’t all that interested.
It just looked like colorful popcorn.
Then I tried it.
And suddenly I understood why people rave about it.
The mix has popcorn, crispy cereal pieces, pretzels, and a sweet, slightly spicy seasoning that somehow works really well together.
Every handful tastes a little different.
Some bites are sweeter… some are saltier.
It’s one of those snacks where you keep telling yourself you’re just going to have one more handful…
…and then you realize the bag is almost empty.
I ranked it as my second favorite snack in all of Hollywood Studios, and honestly, I could make an argument for putting it even higher on some days.
Don’t Leave Without Looking at the Coke Bottles

Even if you don’t end up buying anything here…
At least walk over and look at the Coke bottles.
They’re one of those little Disney details that makes me smile every time.
Instead of regular plastic bottles, the Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, and Dasani are all shaped like Star Wars thermal detonators.
It’s completely unnecessary.
And completely Disney.
Do they taste any different?
Nope.
They’re still Coke.
But they’re fun, they’re different, and they’re one of those things that people love taking pictures of before they open them.
I know I did.

If you’re in the mood for something sweet after exploring Galaxy’s Edge, head over to Hollywood Scoops. Their Mickey Mouse Brownie Sundae is my favorite snack in all of Hollywood Studios and the perfect way to cool off on a hot afternoon.
Would I Stop Here Again?
Without question.
Not because Kat Saka’s Kettle has this huge menu.
It doesn’t.
Not because I need popcorn every time I visit Hollywood Studios.
I don’t.
I stop because I genuinely love the Outpost Mix.
In fact, when I ranked every snack I’ve tried at Hollywood Studios, it came in at #2.
That’s saying something.
It’s one of those snacks that doesn’t really sound all that exciting when you describe it.
“Sweet and spicy popcorn mix.”
Okay…
That doesn’t exactly make you want to sprint across the park.
But then you try it.
And suddenly you’re reaching into the bag for “just one more handful.”
It’s surprisingly addictive.
Final Thoughts
Clearly, Kat Saka’s Kettle isn’t where you are going for lunch.
It’s not trying to have twenty things on the menu.
It does one thing really well.
If you find yourself wandering around Galaxy’s Edge, I absolutely think it’s worth spending a few dollars on a bag of Outpost Mix.
Worst case?
You discover it’s just popcorn.
Best case?
You end up like me and wonder why Disney doesn’t sell this stuff by the gallon.
And while you’re there…
Grab one of the Star Wars Coke bottles.
Even if it’s just for the picture.
