Hollywood Scoops Review: Is the Mickey Brownie Sundae Worth It?

Is Hollywood Scoops worth visiting? Here’s my honest review of the Mickey Mouse Brownie Sundae, seasonal desserts, and why I keep coming back.
Estimated reading time: 7 minutes
If you ask me where to get ice cream at Hollywood Studios, my answer is pretty easy.
Hollywood Scoops.
Now, is it the only place in the park where you can get something cold?
No.
But it is the place I find myself coming back to over and over again.
Part of that is because they have my favorite snack in all of Hollywood Studios—the Mickey Mouse Brownie Sundae. Part of it is because Disney is constantly rotating seasonal sundaes and specialty cones through this little stand. Every time I walk by, I feel like I need to stop and see what’s on the menu.
Sometimes I order something new.
Sometimes I don’t.
Usually…
I’m getting the brownie sundae.
Quick Overview
Location: Sunset Boulevard, near Tower of Terror
Type of Dining: Walk-up snack stand
Mobile Order: No
Best For:
- Ice cream
- Specialty sundaes
- Seasonal desserts
- Cooling off on a hot Florida afternoon
Atmosphere
There honestly isn’t much to say about Hollywood Scoops itself.
It’s a walk-up window.
You order your ice cream, find somewhere to sit, and dig in.
Done.
What I do like is where it’s located.
If you’ve just gotten off Tower of Terror or Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, it’s hard to miss. On a hot afternoon, that can be a dangerous combination because suddenly an ice cream sundae sounds like the greatest idea you’ve ever had.
There isn’t a ton of seating right at Hollywood Scoops, but there are benches and shady spots nearby where you can sit for a few minutes before heading to your next attraction.

What Makes Hollywood Scoops Different?
This is what I think sets Hollywood Scoops apart from a lot of the other ice cream locations at Disney World.
Yes, you can get a scoop of ice cream.
But that’s not really why I stop here.
Disney uses Hollywood Scoops for a lot of their seasonal desserts.
Over the years they’ve had specialty sundaes, Villains-themed cones, holiday treats, and limited-time creations that looked almost too pretty to eat.
Some of them have been fantastic.
Honestly…I wish Disney would stop taking them away.
I know Disney likes to keep things fresh, but there have been a few seasonal treats here that I would have happily ordered every trip.
Because of that, I always recommend taking a minute to look at the menu.
Even if you’ve been here before, there might be something completely different waiting for you.
What I Ordered

Mickey Mouse Brownie Sundae
This is my favorite snack at Hollywood Studios.
Not my favorite dessert.
My favorite snack.
Period.
It’s a Mickey-shaped brownie topped with ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and a cherry.
Simple.
Classic.
Delicious.
Sometimes Disney desserts look amazing but don’t actually taste as good as they look.
That isn’t the case here.
It’s basically the classic brownie-and-ice-cream combination that everybody already loves, just with a little Disney magic thrown in.
It’s also huge.
Unless you’re really hungry, I’d absolutely split one.
Would I order this every single trip?
Well…
No.
I don’t really have one snack at Hollywood Studios that I absolutely have to get every vacation.
But this comes pretty close.
If I’m walking past Hollywood Scoops and it’s hot outside, there’s a very good chance you’ll find me standing in line for one of these.

My Tips
The brownie sundae is definitely shareable.
Could I eat one by myself?
Absolutely.
Should I?
Probably not… but that has never stopped me before.
I consider it payment for walking 25,000 steps. Ha!– Disney math.
Also, my favorite time to visit? The evening is fantastic. If there are two Fantasmic shows, I love going to the first one and then indulging in some ice cream afterwards.

If you’re still hungry after dessert, take a look at my Fairfax Fare review. It’s another underrated stop on Sunset Boulevard, and their over-the-top waffle bowls are much more filling than they look.
I’ve Actually Been Here More Than Once
One of the things I like about Hollywood Scoops is that I don’t feel like I’ve “checked it off the list.”
I’ve stopped here on several different trips, and I’ve ordered something different almost every time.
The first time, it was just a regular ice cream cone.
Nothing fancy.
Sometimes that’s honestly all you need on a hot Florida afternoon.
Another time I ended up trying one of their limited-time Villains cones. I love when Disney does things like that. They take a basic ice cream stand and give you a reason to come back and see what’s new.
Was the Villains cone better than the brownie sundae?
For me…
No.
But I’m still glad I tried it.
And that’s kind of the fun of Hollywood Scoops. The menu changes often enough that you never quite know what you’re going to find.
So…What Should You Order?

If it’s your first visit?
The Mickey Mouse Brownie Sundae.
No question.
That’s still my favorite thing on the menu, and it’s the snack I ranked #1 in my Hollywood Studios snack guide.
If you’ve already had the brownie sundae, though, I’d encourage you to branch out.
Take a look at whatever seasonal dessert Disney is offering.
Some of them disappear after a few weeks, which means you may never get another chance to try them.
Worst case?
Nothing jumps out at you…
…and you order the brownie sundae again.
I’d call that a pretty good backup plan.
Hollywood Scoops is one of my favorite places for ice cream at Disney World, but it certainly isn’t the only one. If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom, I’d also recommend checking out Storybook Treats for their creative specialty sundaes or Aloha Isle, home of my all-time favorite Disney dessert—the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake.
Final Thoughts
Hollywood Scoops isn’t trying to compete with Beaches & Cream.
It’s not trying to be some over-the-top dessert destination.
It’s just a really solid little ice cream stand in a part of the park where an ice cream break usually sounds like a pretty good idea.
I don’t stop here every single trip.
In fact, Hollywood Studios doesn’t really have one snack that I absolutely have to get every vacation.
But if I’m walking down Sunset Boulevard and it’s hot outside, Hollywood Scoops is usually one of the first places I think about.
Sometimes I end up with the brownie sundae.
Sometimes I try whatever seasonal creation Disney came up with this time.
Either way…
I’ve never regretted stopping.
