There are some Disney experiences that are impossible to judge by dollars alone.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is one of them.
When my daughter was five years old, she was at the absolute peak of her Disney Princess phase. She didn’t just like princesses—she lived princesses. Before our first family trip to Walt Disney World, I packed an entire extra suitcase filled with princess dresses because she wanted to wear a different one every day.
So naturally, one reservation was completely non-negotiable.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
Looking back all these years later, I honestly think five years old was the perfect age for this experience. She believed every second of the magic. She wasn’t simply getting her hair styled or putting on a pretty dress.
My daughter truly believed she was becoming a princess.
Even now, when I think back on that vacation, there are a handful of moments that stand out above everything else.
One of them was watching my little girl walk out of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in her brand-new Sleeping Beauty gown—with bright purple sneakers peeking out underneath.
The other?
The look on her daddy’s face when he saw her for the first time.
That memory alone made the entire experience worth it.

What Is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?
Located inside Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is one of Walt Disney World’s most iconic Enchanting Extras experiences.
Children ages 3–12 can receive a royal makeover performed by one of Disney’s Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices. Depending on which package you choose, the experience can include:
- Hairstyling
- Sparkling makeup
- Glittery nail polish
- Princess sash
- Accessories
- Princess gown (select packages)
- Royal portrait opportunities
While princess makeovers are the most popular option, Disney also offers knight packages for young princes.
Reservations are essential and can be made beginning 60 days before your visit. This is one of the most popular experiences in Magic Kingdom and frequently books up.

Our Perfect Princess Morning
We intentionally planned an entire princess-themed morning.
First, we enjoyed breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table inside Cinderella Castle.
Then, we headed downstairs for our Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservation.
I honestly couldn’t have planned it better.
Starting the day by meeting Cinderella and the other princesses before transforming into one herself made the entire morning feel like one continuous fairy tale.
If you’re planning this experience, I highly recommend booking it as early in the day as possible. Your child gets to enjoy the rest of Magic Kingdom feeling like royalty instead of changing into a princess just before heading back to the hotel.

Choosing the Dress
One decision every family has to make is whether to bring a princess dress from home or purchase one at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
We decided to buy ours there.
Could we have saved money by bringing one from home?
Absolutely.
But honestly, I don’t regret our decision for a second.
Walking through the boutique and letting my daughter choose her princess dress felt like part of the experience. It wasn’t just putting on a costume she already owned. She got to browse the beautiful gowns before proudly choosing Sleeping Beauty.
Watching her excitement during that moment was part of the magic.

Becoming a Princess
Once her Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice introduced herself, the transformation officially began.
The boutique itself feels like a tiny royal salon tucked inside Cinderella Castle.
Rows of elegant styling stations line the room beneath sparkling chandeliers, while Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices bustle from chair to chair helping young princes and princesses prepare for the royal ball.

Even as an adult, it’s hard not to smile walking into the room.
Every Cast Member stayed completely in character.
They weren’t simply hairstylists.
They treated each child like visiting royalty.

Our Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice chatted with my daughter throughout the makeover, making her feel incredibly special from beginning to end.
Hair came first.
Then makeup.
Then sparkling nail polish.
There was glitter.
Lots of glitter.

Hair accessories were added.
Her sash was placed across her shoulder.
By the time everything was finished, she couldn’t stop smiling.

The Reveal
There are some moments as a parent that become permanent memories.
This was one of ours.
After the makeover was complete, my daughter turned toward the mirror to see herself fully transformed.
She absolutely beamed.

But my favorite memory wasn’t actually the mirror reveal.
It was watching her walk out afterward to find her dad.
I’ll never forget the expression on his face.
He looked completely overwhelmed.
His little girl had walked into Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique wearing regular clothes.

She walked out looking—and more importantly feeling—like a Disney princess.
It was one of those parenting moments that sneaks up on you.
The makeover was wonderful.
Watching him see her afterward was even better.

My Favorite Detail
As beautiful as she looked…
…I’ll always remember the purple sneakers.
She wore the gorgeous pink Sleeping Beauty gown all day long.
Underneath?
Bright purple athletic shoes.
Somehow, those sneakers made the whole thing even sweeter.
She looked like exactly what she was—a little five-year-old girl who believed she was a princess.

If you’re visiting on a parade day, watching the Festival of Fantasy Parade after your makeover is especially magical.
Princess Cloud Nine
The makeover didn’t end when we walked out the door.
Not even close.
She spent the rest of the day absolutely floating through Magic Kingdom.
Every Cast Member called her “Princess.”
Guests smiled at her.
She proudly showed off her sparkly nails, posed for photos.
Carefully held onto her wand.
And my little princess walked through Fantasyland like she belonged there.
It wasn’t just the makeover.
It completely changed how she experienced the rest of the day.
That’s one reason I recommend scheduling Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique early.
You aren’t paying for a one-hour salon appointment.
You’re giving your child an entire day of believing they’re royalty.

After the makeover, we spent the rest of the day enjoying many of our favorite Magic Kingdom rides while she proudly wore her princess dress.
Is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Worth It?
For the right child?
Without hesitation.
Yes.
I don’t think this experience is for every family.
If your child has outgrown princesses, doesn’t enjoy dress-up, or would rather spend the money on attractions or souvenirs, I’d skip it.
But if your son or daughter is in that magical window—roughly ages four to seven—where Disney characters still feel wonderfully real, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is incredibly special.
For us, five years old was perfect.
She believed every word the Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice said.
… believed every compliment from Cast Members.
And she truly believed she had become a princess.
That’s something you can’t recreate once they’re older.
Years later, my daughter doesn’t remember every attraction we rode during that vacation.
She absolutely remembers Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
So do I.
Tips for Planning Your Visit
- Reserve your appointment as soon as your 60-day booking window opens.
- Schedule your makeover early in the day so your child can enjoy Magic Kingdom dressed as royalty.
- Consider pairing it with Cinderella’s Royal Table for the ultimate princess morning.
- Decide ahead of time whether you’ll bring a dress from home or purchase one inside the boutique.
- Bring comfortable shoes—even if they’re bright purple sneakers peeking out from under a princess gown.
We intentionally booked an early breakfast and makeover appointment. If you’re trying to maximize your day, our Magic Kingdom Early Entry strategy can help you fit everything in.

Since Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique takes a significant chunk of your morning, using Lightning Lane Multi Pass can help you experience more attractions afterward.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique cost?
Packages currently start around $60 for the Knight package, with princess makeover packages ranging from approximately $120 to $230+, depending on whether you purchase a gown. Prices can change, so check Disney’s website before your trip.
What ages can participate?
Children must be between 3 and 12 years old.
Do you need a reservation?
Yes. Reservations are strongly recommended and often sell out shortly after they become available 60 days in advance.
Should I bring my own princess dress?
Either option works. Bringing your own dress saves money, but purchasing one inside the boutique adds another layer of excitement because your child gets to choose their gown as part of the experience.
What is the best age for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?
In my opinion, around five years old is the sweet spot. Children that age are often completely immersed in Disney magic and still wholeheartedly believe in becoming a princess. Of course, every child is different, but I genuinely think that’s when this experience shines.
Final Thoughts

More than a decade later, I don’t remember exactly what we paid.
I don’t remember how long the appointment lasted.
I couldn’t tell you every hairstyle option that was available.
But I remember packing an entire suitcase full of princess dresses.
I remember my daughter’s purple sneakers sticking out beneath her beautiful gown.
I remember watching her spend the entire day on Princess Cloud Nine.

For our family, that memory was priceless.
