The Best Roller Coasters at Disney World

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

While this isn’t necessarily a top thrill ride, it is a classic and still wows guests today. The landscape of the Wild West gives this coaster fun, dramatic suspense, and one of the most detailed coasters in the parks.

Expedition Everest

This coaster is probably the best in all of the parks. It takes you along a gorgeous que of the Himalayan mountains and immerses you right in the culture. But, of course, nothing beats the surprise Yeti and topping out at 50 mph. This might not be the fastest, but it has an 80-foot drop that makes it one of the top thrill rides in the whole park.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

This coaster is the fastest and most intense in the entire Disney World amusement parks. With a 0-60 mph blast off right in the beginning, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better thrill ride anywhere else.

Slinky Dog Dash

While there are no inversions, Slinky Dog Dash does have some great air time and hits speeds of up to 40 mph. This coaster is taller and faster, plus the blast off during the middle of the ride makes it that much better.

Space Mountain

If riding a coaster in the dark wasn’t exciting enough, this is one of those rides that creates an incredible experience while you ride. With this ride being over 50 years old at this point, it’s still one of the best futuristic coasters in the park.

The Worst Roller Coasters at Disney World

The Barnstormer

Out of all the rides at Disney World, The Barnstormer is known as being one of the worst rides in the entire Disney park. While it is considered a kid’s coaster, it is just over a minute and only goes up to 25 mph. If you are traveling with small children, this one might be a good ride option to start introducing your little one to roller coasters, but if you’re traveling with older kids or adults, it’s best to skip this one.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

While this is one of the newest coasters to the Disney parks, it’s a pretty calm coaster. Unfortunately, this coaster has no big drops or thrill-seeking elements, and this ride usually has some of the highest wait times.

Of course, many people consider this their favorite ride. That’s one of the reasons it’s so popular. But it might be a good ride to either pay the Individual Lightning Lane for or pick for times when parks aren’t as crowded (extended evening hours, special events, etc..)

Some Disney World coasters are worth what could be up to four hours of waiting. However, some don’t warrant the long wait times! Hopefully, this guide has made it easier for you to determine which rides are worth your time.
