Animal Kingdom’s Yak & Yeti Restaurant Review

Looking for delicious pan-Asian cuisine in the heart of Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Yak & Yeti might be the perfect spot for your next table service meal. Yak and Yeti is tucked away in the Asia section of the park. This unique restaurant offers a flavorful escape from the Florida heat and a welcome break from the more typical theme park fare.
Whether it’s your first visit or you’ve walked past it dozens of times on your way to Expedition Everest, Yak & Yeti is worth a closer look. Here’s everything you need to know—from menu items and portion sizes to whether it’s a good thing for picky eaters.

First Impressions: A Cool Escape in the Middle of the Park
Okay, I’ll be honest. I walked past Yak & Yeti at least five times before ever giving it a chance. It’s easy to miss when you’re hustling to Expedition Everest or grabbing BBQ at Flame Tree. But my friend kept raving about the Ahi Tuna Nachos, so we had to try it out. We have had lunch here at least 3 times since our first visit. Yes, it’s that good.

From the outside, it kind of blends into the theming of Animal Kingdom’s Asia section. I love the facade of the building. It’s a gorgeous blue building. Once you step inside, there is just so much to look at. This is a cozy space jam-packed with antiques, mismatched chairs, hanging lanterns, and framed photos.

There is even at least one coat of arms. It’s got that curated traveler’s home look. It’s almost like someone just brought back souvenirs from Nepal and said, “Let’s make a restaurant.”

The vibe is much calmer than, say, Tusker House. You won’t have a dance party with Mickey Mouse. It’s a unique restaurant and quiet enough to relax but you won’t feel out of place with your theme park t-shirt. Yak & Yeti is very family-friendly, but not overly chaotic or fussy.
The Menu: Something for Everyone (Even Picky Eaters)
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect food-wise, but Yak & Yeti’s menu is way more adventurous than typical theme park fare. It’s packed with variety and if you are sick of chicken tenders and cheeseburgers, you will love what they have to offer. Some of the standout favorites include lo mein, coconut shrimp, chicken tikka masala, and even a Bhaktapur duck dish that sounded super fancy.

Plus, there’s stuff for less adventurous eaters too. If you need to convince your picky eater to give it a try, there are menu items like honey chicken, egg rolls, and tempura chicken that basically tastes like sweet & sour.
Even the vegetarian options felt intentional and not just afterthoughts. And the portion sizes? Let’s just say you could definitely share.

What We Ordered (And What We’d Skip)
Well, of course we ordered the nachos, with a catch. My friend doesn’t do raw fish. So, we asked the server if we could substitute chicken for the ahi and she said yes! So, we had the famous ahi tuna nachos.. just with chicken. I will warn you to come hungry because that appetizer alone could fill you up.

The first time we visited, I ordered the Miso Salmon. It came with coconut-ginger rice, stir-fried vegetables and was the absolute perfect lunch. The salmon was tender and the rice and veggies were very flavorful.

My daughter (who falls firmly into the picky eater category) stuck with tempura chicken and white rice. Safe and satisfying with no complaints there.

The second time we visited, I ordered the Coconut Shrimp and you have to believe me when I tell you these shrimp were life changing. No kidding, this is one of the best things I have ever eaten ever.. anywhere. They were huge and cooked perfectly. And I was stuffed.. I found it hard to eat anything else the rest of the day. For real. I didn’t care though because they were that good.

The latest time we ate at Yak & Yeti, there was a scallop special. It sounded amazing, and it was. Not too heavy. There was a rice mound in the middle of the plate with a delicious sauce, vegetables, and a slaw that was crunchy and just fit with the rest of the dish perfectly.

Drinks & Desserts
I don’t really drink alcohol so I stuck with water (you always over hydrate at Animal Kingdom) and Sprite. But there is quite an impressive drink menu all the same. A lot of people love the Yak Attack, a fruity frozen cocktail with a subtle crisp apple flavor and tropical twist.
We didn’t order dessert (too full), but I’ve heard the fried wontons with pineapple are a must. If you try them, please report back.
Service & Overall Experience
Our servers have always been awesome. Each one has been super friendly, knew the menu items inside and out, and even helped us narrow down what to get. We never felt rushed, but the meal didn’t drag either. It was that perfect mid-day break in the park where you get to sit, cool off, and recharge before you could catch the Festival of the Lion King show.

Value for the Price
For a Disney table service restaurant, Yak & Yeti feels like a win. We paid about $70 before tip for two people (one app, two entrées, one drink), and I thought the food was honestly better than a lot of the other counter service restaurants we’ve tried.
If you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, this is one of those spots that makes the credit feel well spent. Big portions, well-prepared dishes, and not just another burger-and-fries joint.
Reservations: Should You Book Ahead?
Short answer? Yes. Especially for lunch.
That said, if you forget to snag a reservation, there’s still hope. Yak & Yeti is part of the Landry’s Select Club, and if you’re a member, you might get walk-up seating even when the app says it’s full. My friend has a Landry’s card (one of the many things I love about her!) and we have never waited more than 10 minutes for a table, even if there was an hour wait.
And if all else fails, the quick service restaurant (Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes) next door serves some similar dishes and is actually one of the better quick-service selections in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Is It Good for Kids?
Definitely. High chairs? Yes. Kid menu? Also yes. Characters? No, but unless your little one demands a photo with Winnie the Pooh mid-bite, they’ll be fine. Honestly, it’s great for kids because it’s air-conditioned. Animal Kingdom can get soooo super hot. And this is a great break. Trust me.
There’s a ton of kid-friendly stuff on the menu—egg rolls, tempura chicken, plain rice, and of course, fries. My daughter was completely happy, and that’s saying something.
If you’re wondering if this is more of a Disney date night restaurant—not really. But it works great for families and adult groups alike.
Location & Convenience
You’ll find Yak & Yeti right in the Asia section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, not far from Kali River Rapids and Expedition Everest. Super easy to get to. You do need a park ticket, though—it’s not one of those places you can just Uber to from your hotel.
Final Thoughts: Should You Dine Here?
Honestly? Yes. I wish we’d tried it sooner.
Yak & Yeti delivers flavorful, well-prepared food in a relaxed, beautifully themed space. It’s a solid value by Disney standards and a welcome break from theme park staples. If you’re looking for something beyond burgers or chicken nuggets, this is a great choice.
Would I go back? 100%. Next time I’m getting those lettuce cups and finally trying dessert.
