Walking Into Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant
I knew this spot would be fun, but wow, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater might have the coolest setup in all of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

You walk in and suddenly it’s nighttime. Like, actual twilight sky and all, with stars twinkling above and glowing tail fins sticking out from rows of classic cars. The cars are actually your tables. Each one has built-in booths (or benches) and headlights glowing softly. You sit facing a huge screen that loops old-school sci-fi clips. These are all B-roll movies that feature flying saucers, cheesy alien effects, and dramatic 1950s voiceovers.
I couldn’t stop looking around at the details. Even the “carhop” Cast Member leaned into the theme. It felt like we time-traveled straight into a drive-in movie theater, but without the bugs and static.

So… How’s the Food?
Let’s be real: no one comes here for cutting-edge cuisine. You come for burgers, milkshakes, and the pure vibe of it all. But I gotta say, some of the food here is actually really solid. On our recent visit, we ordered a mix of new and familiar menu items, and here’s what stood out:
What We Ate and What is Recommended

Drive-In BBQ Burger – This was my favorite of the bunch. Smoky, juicy, and loaded with crispy onion straws, melted gouda, and BBQ sauce. It came on a brioche bun with thick-cut steak fries. Definitely a “bring napkins” kind of meal, but so worth it.
Chicken Citrus Salad – I wanted something lighter, and this hit the spot. Fresh greens, oranges, and a zippy vinaigrette. Not groundbreaking, but it balanced out the heavier stuff nicely.
Oven-Roasted Turkey Wrap – My husband got this one. It was basically Thanksgiving in sandwich form, with house-brined herb-roasted turkey and cranberry mayo. He gave it a thumbs up.
Fried Dill Pickles – These came out crispy and hot, perfect for dipping in the house-made burger sauce or avocado cream. Would 100% order again.
Allergy-Friendly Chicken Tenders – Sci-Fi Drive In is great about accommodating food sensitivities. Allergy-friendly meals are prepped using allergy-friendly fryers, and they even double-checked the ingredients at the table. Major points there.
There are also plant-based options now including the Flying Saucer Impossible Burger and even a vegan cookie milkshake that’s made with oat milk. I am not vegan but if I ever visit with my niece, we will totally check it out!
Dips, Fries & Sweets
The dipping sauces here are kind of underrated. Try the cilantro-avocado aioli, honey mustard, or buffalo sauce with your crispy onion rings or fries. We also spotted a black bean chili option on the menu for something more hearty.
We split a hot fudge sundae for dessert, which was simple but totally hit the spot. That or the brownie sundae would be great for sharing. (Bonus: You can add a souvenir glow cube to your drinks for a little extra fun.)

The Atmosphere: Total Time Warp
One of my favorite things about eating here? It’s quiet. Like, shockingly chill for a theme park restaurant.
The dining room is dark, movie theater dark. Most people are just quietly watching the old clips. It makes the whole experience feel slower and calmer than most spots in Walt Disney World restaurants. No characters. No loud music. Just you, your food, and some vintage alien drama.
If you’re in a car booth, you sit side by side, not across from each other. Heads up if you’re hoping for deep conversation, it’s not the best setup for that. But if you’re like me and want to eat your classic American burger while watching flying saucers invade Earth, you’re in luck.
Pro tip: Skip the picnic tables at the back of the restaurant if you can. Ask for a front seat or at least one of the main car-shaped booths. It makes a big difference.

Service & Pace
We had a great cast member who was friendly, quick, and on top of allergy details. Our food came out maybe 15–20 minutes after ordering, which felt just right. We never felt rushed, and we weren’t stuck waiting around either.
On a previous visit, it was a bit slower, so I’d say timing can vary depending on how busy the kitchen is.
Is It Worth the Price?
We spent about $90 for three of us, two adults, one kid. This felt pretty fair considering how themed the whole experience is. Most entrées are around $18–$23. If you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, it’s a good value for a table service credit. You can easily make it count by ordering a main, drink, and dessert.
You can also book Sci-Fi Drive In as part of the Fantasmic Dining Package (highly recommend this!) and get priority seating for that awesome show!
Compared to some counter service restaurants, I’d pick Sci-Fi for a sit-down lunch any day. You get A/C, table service, and a free dining experience that’s way more memorable.

Getting a Reservation
Reservations here do fill up fast, especially during busy seasons. I booked this one about 45 days out, but I’ve also seen same-day times pop up if you’re lucky. If you want to eat here during your next time in the parks, try a late lunch or early dinner. Avoiding long lines and peak crowds makes the meal way more relaxing.
Is It a Good Pick for Kids?
Absolutely. It’s easily one of the best restaurants at Disney’s Hollywood Studios if you’ve got kids or teens. Between the movie screen, the car booths, and the glow-in-the-dark vibe, there’s plenty to keep them entertained.
There are lots of options for picky eaters too like the bacon cheeseburger, plain french fries, milkshakes, even allergy-friendly lunch items like dedicated fryer chicken tenders. You really can’t go wrong.
Final Thoughts
Is Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant the fanciest meal at Disney? Nope. But it doesn’t have to be. It’s themed dining done right; fun, different, and full of nostalgic flair. Whether you’re a retro movie fan or just want a cool place to rest your feet and eat something tasty, this is a good choice.
It’s become a must-do for us. We don’t go every trip, but definitely every few. And if you’ve never been, I’d say there’s a good chance you’ll walk out smiling.
