First Impressions & Theme: Inside Andy’s Backyard

As soon as you step through the main entrance, it feels like you’ve been shrunk down and dropped into Andy’s homemade rodeo—constructed entirely from cardboard boxesgame pieces, and a broad assortment of toys. This is one of the most immersive environments in any Walt Disney World restaurant.

The dining room is bright, loud, and full of Pixar personality. You’ll spot cardboard cutouts of Pixar characters, train station playsets, and even a “force field” to protect guests from the Green Army Men’s misfires. The whole thing is meant to look like Andy threw together a western-themed restaurant for his toys using whatever he could find.

Expect lots of color, rodeo festivities, and playful touches like a restaurant-wide pause when someone yells, “Andy’s coming!” Yes, the vibe is high energy, not peaceful—think family-style fun over romantic night out.

The Menu & Dining Experience

Family-Style BBQ with a Toy Story Twist

Roundup Rodeo BBQ serves an all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style meal, which means big portions and lots of food—ideal for groups or big eaters. After ordering drinks, the entire meal is brought to your table in stages.

Starters

The Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits are hands-down the best thing we ate. Warm, cheesy, and served with a sweet pepper jelly that brings the whole bite together. We would honestly return just for these.

Salads & Starters:

  • Rootin’ Tootin Tomato Salad
  • Wheezy’s Watermelon Salad

Honestly, they’re more flavorful than expected. The watermelon salad was so refreshing and tomato salad surprised me with their freshness.

Mains & Sides

You’ll choose from several main course platters:

  • Rodeo Special (brisket, ribs, sausage, and BBQ chicken)
  • Scrumptious Bratwurst
  • Plant-Based OptionTrixie’s Plant-Based Trio, which includes a meatless rib chop, cauliflower, and married spuds (stuffed potato barrels)

And of course, there’s Slinky Doooooooog’s Mac & Cheese (a crowd favorite), potato barrels, baked beans, cowpoke corn on the cob, and even a refreshing iced tea served in cute plastic mason jars.

You can even order fun drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) like the Partysaurus Tex (strawberry lemonade with a gummy worm).

The side dishes are the very definition of comfort food. We enjoyed the cowpoke corn and baked beans the most.  The potato barrels and mac were fine too. Not bad, just not standout.

Desserts

The desserts are adorable and served in mini mason jars, which is very on-brand. We tried:

  • Blueberry Cheesecake – a bit sweet but a fun finish
  • Chocolate Silk Pie – rich and indulgent
  • Peach-Strawberry Pie – not my favorite, but the flavors were summery and light

There’s also a Forky Cupcake on the online menu, though it’s currently listed under cookies purchase policy as a separate dessert offering.

Service & Pace

The cast members here are really into the story, calling guests “cowpokes” and playing along with the whole “Andy’s backyard rodeo” theme. Our server was attentive and helpful with allergy questions, and we didn’t feel rushed, even though the restaurant was fully booked. We appreciated that the meal was well-paced despite how many components are brought out.

Cost & Value

Here’s the good news: You get a ton of food, and it’s served in generous portions. I really love the food at Roundup Rodeo. But some people are not huge fans of the food quality here. If BBQ is your thing, you might be underwhelmed.

As of 2025, adult pricing was around $49/adult and $27/kids plus tax and tip. If you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, it’s a decent value for one table service credit, especially if you’re a BBQ fan. Out of pocket? It’s a bit steep unless you can eat a lot.

Reservations & Availability

How hard is it to get a reservation at Roundup Rodeo BBQ?
Pretty tricky if you’re booking closer to your trip. Because it’s a new restaurant and centrally located in Toy Story Land, it books up quickly—especially around lunch and dinner.

Try for a reservation right when your 60-day window opens or consider using a dining alert tool. Walk-ups are rare but not impossible.

Best time to eat here:
Early lunch or late dinner to avoid peak crowds near Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania.

Is It Kid-Friendly? Or Good for Adults?

This place was absolutely built with Toy Story fans and families in mind. It’s chaotic in a fun way—great for kids, maybe overwhelming for adults looking for a calm meal.

There’s no character meal here, but the energy and theming are more than enough for most kids. There are no high-tech screens or shows, but the Green Army Men pop in occasionally for added flair.

Location & Convenience

Roundup Rodeo BBQ is located in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, near Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania. You’ll need a park ticket to dine here, and be prepared for limited shade and few benches in the waiting area.

Final Verdict: Should You Dine Here?

Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a good option if you’re looking for a fun, over-the-top themed meal and traveling with kids or big Toy Story fans. The food is solid (again, my opinion) and the dining experience makes this a super fun choice!

Who It’s Best For:

  • Families with young kids
  • Toy Story lovers
  • Big eaters or guests on the dining plan

My #1 Tip:

Don’t skip the Prospector’s Cheddar Biscuits—and ask for more jelly if you need it. Also, bring your camera. The decor is photo gold.
