How To Make The Patriotic Marshmallows
- Melt the blue candy melts in the microwave according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the candy. Don’t overheat the candy or it will be too thick. You can add 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to help thin the chocolate but do not add any other type of liquid as the candy will seize and harden.
- Skewer each marshmallow with a toothpick.
- Dip marshmallow into candy coating and immediately into blue sprinkles.
- Place marshmallow on waxed paper until set.
- Remove the toothpick from the marshmallow and use to create a small hole in the sprinkle side of the marshmallow.
