Cape May Character Breakfast at Beach Club Review

If you’re looking for a fun character meal that feels relaxed, cheerful, and not completely chaotic, the Cape May Cafe breakfast inside Disney’s Beach Club Resort hits a really nice sweet spot. It’s one of those character breakfasts that feels easy to love — bright dining rooms, friendly Disney characters, and a buffet that actually delivers on food quality.
This is the kind of place I recommend to friends who want a character experience without the sensory overload of some of the higher-profile options. In the past we have enjoyed the character breakfast at Chef Mickey’s, Topolino’s Terrace, Ohana, Cinderella’s Royal Table, and Akershus.
And we have also had lunch or dinner at Garden Grill, Tusker House, 1900 Park Fare, Hollywood and Vine, and Artist Point. In my opinion, Cape May is certainly one of the best character buffets on Disney property… both from a character interaction standpoint and from a food quality standpoint. The entire experience is really fantastic and I strongly recommend this dining experience for anyone who loves great food, fun characters, or both!

First Impressions & Atmosphere
Cape May Cafe is part of the Beach Club’s breezy seaside aesthetic, and the decor fits perfectly. Think soft blues, white trim, and light-filled dining rooms that feel calm even when the restaurant is busy.
Unlike some character meals inside the theme parks, this one feels more spread out and less rushed. Cast Members keep things moving without making you feel like your meal time is on a clock.
The overall vibe is upbeat but not overwhelming, which makes a big difference first thing in the morning.

The Buffet & Dining Experience
Breakfast Buffet Highlights
This is a classic breakfast buffet that’s well executed, with plenty of options for kids and adults.
You’ll find:
- Minnie waffles and Mickey waffles
- Fluffy French toast
- Scrambled eggs
- Bacon and sausage
- Potato barrels
- A solid yogurt bar
- Fresh fruit
- Fresh-baked pastries
- Orange juice, POG juice, and specialty coffees
Everything was hot, fresh, and consistently replenished, which matters with a buffet menu this size.
There are soooo many options. I tried to take as many pictures as I could without annoying the other guests, but this gives you a good idea. There are pre-made crepes, Mickey waffles, fresh fruit, and other pastries.

There is a carving station, tons of breakfast meats and eggs. Really, this is a ginormous buffet.

One small but memorable touch that makes Cape May Cafe stand out is the salted caramel beach buns that are brought directly to your table. These warm, soft rolls are lightly sweet with just enough salted caramel flavor to feel indulgent without being dessert-level heavy.
They’re easy to overlook at first, but they quickly became one of those “oh wow, these are actually really good” moments. It’s a simple detail, but it adds a nice table-service feel to what’s otherwise a breakfast buffet — and they pair surprisingly well with coffee.

I also really loved the made to order omelet station. The omelet was perfect… not runny, and full of all the fixings you could possibly want. My go-to is cheese, tomato, and mushroom. And it was really delicious!

Special Dietary Needs
Cape May Cafe is very accommodating when it comes to special dietary needs. Gluten-free options are available, and the chefs are happy to walk you through alternatives. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, this is a place where asking questions feels easy and welcomed.
Characters at Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast
The stars here are Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck, joined by Goofy and Daisy — all dressed in adorable beach-themed outfits.
Even though the food is a buffet, the character experience itself feels almost family style. Characters come directly to your table, so there’s no wandering around trying to catch them between bites. The character interactions feel relaxed, playful, and unhurried.

At some point during your meal, the characters will do a fun dance parade. It’s designed for the kids I think, but it is really just so delightful! My friend and I weren’t there with kids, but it was so fun to watch the kids’ faces light up when they got to dance with the characters!

What Cape May Is (and Isn’t)
It’s important to know that Cape May Cafe offers two very different experiences depending on the time of day.
Breakfast is all about classic comfort foods and characters. Dinner, on the other hand, is a dinner buffet centered around a New England traditional steam boil, featuring:
- Crab legs
- Lobster tail
- Shrimp and clams
- Sustainable catch of the day
- A hearty turf platter
That seafood boil makes dinner a dream for any seafood lover, but none of that carries over to breakfast. No crab legs, no seafood boil — just a straightforward, crowd-pleasing breakfast spread.

Location & Convenience
One of the biggest perks of Cape May Cafe is its location. It’s a short walk from Epcot’s International Gateway and incredibly convenient if you’re staying at the Beach Club, Yacht Club, or BoardWalk.
You don’t need a park ticket to eat here, which makes it a great way to enjoy Disney characters on a non-park morning. Compared to places like Chef Mickey’s, this meal feels calmer and more relaxed.
How It Compares to Other Character Meals
If you’ve done character meals at the Magic Kingdom or at Wilderness Lodge, Cape May Cafe lands nicely in the middle.
It’s:
- Less hectic than Chef Mickey’s
- Brighter and calmer than many in-park character meals
- A strong choice for families who want characters without exhaustion
Is Cape May Character Breakfast Worth It?
Yes — especially if you’re staying nearby or want a character meal that feels genuinely enjoyable.
The food is solid, the characters are fun without being overwhelming, and the atmosphere inside this Disney resort feels calm and welcoming. Honestly, this is one of my absolute favorite dining experiences in all of Disney World. You really can’t go wrong with booking this character breakfast.
For first-time visitors to Walt Disney World Resort, it’s an easy win. For repeat visitors, it’s a refreshing change of pace.
Final Verdict
Cape May Cafe breakfast is a great way to combine good food, fun characters, and a relaxed setting. It may not have the spectacle of some headline character meals, but that’s exactly why many families end up loving it.
If you want a cheerful start to your day with reliable food and low-pressure character interactions, this one earns its spot.
