First Impressions & Atmosphere
Walking into the ‘Ohana dining room at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort feels like you’ve stepped into a lush island escape — even though you’re still very much at the Walt Disney World Resort. Tropical greenery surrounds the open dining room, sunlight filters in through the windows, and there’s a constant buzz of excitement that lets you know this is going to be a fun meal.
This is not a quiet, romantic breakfast spot. The energy is upbeat, the music is playful, and character appearances keep the room moving. On our last visit, Cast Members were cheerful and efficient from the moment we checked in, guiding us through the My Disney Experience app process and explaining how the family-style breakfast skillet works.
It’s the kind of place where family members immediately relax, kids start scanning the room for Disney friends, and adults feel like the day is off to a solid start.

The Menu & Dining Experience
Family-Style Breakfast Skillet
The only option at the ‘Ohana Character Breakfast is a feast family-style, and honestly, that’s part of the charm. Everything comes to the table hot and ready to share, making it one of the easiest character dining experiences when you don’t want to think too hard before your coffee kicks in.

The breakfast selections include:
- Mickey waffles with warm honey butter
- Hawaiian-style ham with a guava-pineapple glaze
- Pork breakfast sausage links and Hawaiian pork sausages
- Island-style potatoes seasoned with ‘Ohana seasoning
- Scrambled eggs
- Seasonal fruit and a variety of fresh fruits
- Pineapple-coconut breakfast bread served with honey butter
It’s a bountiful breakfast that covers both picky eaters and adventurous ones. The skillet refills come quickly, and Cast Members are great about checking in before you even realize you want more.

Polynesian Flavors & Standout Bites
The Hawaiian-style ham is always a hit — slightly sweet, tender, and not overly salty. The island-style potatoes have just enough seasoning to keep them interesting without being spicy. And yes, the Mickey waffles taste better here. I don’t know if it’s the atmosphere or the company, but they just do.
The pineapple-coconut breakfast bread is a sleeper hit. Warm, soft, and lightly sweet, it pairs perfectly with coffee or POG juice, especially if you have a sweet tooth.

Drinks & Sweet Treats
Breakfast includes POG juice (passion fruit, orange, guava), which alone feels like a vacation in a glass. There’s also coffee, tea, and milk, plus the popular Moana smoothie for kids.
And then there’s dessert — even at breakfast.
The pineapple coconut bread pudding, topped with pineapple compote and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, is the kind of thing you don’t expect at an American breakfast… but absolutely should not skip. It’s rich without being heavy and easily one of the most memorable delicious dishes on the table.

Character Interactions
This is the Best Friends Breakfast, and the character dining experience is a big part of why people book it. You’ll typically see Lilo, Stitch, Mickey Mouse, and other Disney friends rotating through the dining room.

Interactions are quick but meaningful. Characters stop for photos, wave, dance, and play to the room. On our first time here, Stitch was especially mischievous — exactly what you’d hope for.
Because everything is served family-style, you’re not juggling buffet plates while trying to catch character appearances, which makes the experience far less stressful.

At some point during your meal, the characters will also do a fun dance around the dining room. This little dance is so fun.. and if you have ever been to Hawaii, it is full of… Aloha. If you know you know.

Service & Pace
Service here is fast-paced but not rushed. Food arrives quickly, refills are prompt, and Cast Members do a great job keeping things moving so everyone gets character time.
Even on a busy morning, we never felt forgotten or overwhelmed. It’s a well-oiled operation — something Disney table service restaurants tend to do very well.

Cost & Value
This is definitely a splurge breakfast. Out of pocket, it’s pricey — but when you factor in the characters, the amount of food, and the convenience, it often feels worth it.
If you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, this is a solid use of a table service credit, especially compared to lighter breakfasts elsewhere.

Reservations & Availability
Dining reservations are highly recommended. ‘Ohana breakfast books up quickly, especially during peak seasons.
Same-day availability is rare, but you can always try to join the walk-up list in the My Disney Experience app. Early morning reservations tend to be the easiest to snag and pair nicely with a Magic Kingdom park day.
Is It Kid-Friendly? Or Good for Adults?
This is one of the most kid-friendly table service restaurant breakfasts on property. That said, adults enjoy it just as much — especially those who appreciate Polynesian flavors and a relaxed, vacation vibe.
If you’re traveling without kids, it can still be a fun, nostalgic experience, particularly if it’s your first time or a return visit after many years.

Location & Convenience
‘Ohana is located inside Disney’s Polynesian Resort, just a short monorail ride from Magic Kingdom. You do not need a park ticket to dine here, making it an easy choice on arrival or rest days.
After breakfast, many guests walk the resort grounds, grab a coffee at Tambu Lounge Bar, or hop on the monorail for the start of a magical vacation day.

Final Verdict: Is ‘Ohana Character Breakfast Worth It?
If you’re looking for a lively, stress-free character breakfast with plenty of food and strong theming, the ‘Ohana Character Breakfast delivers.
Best for: Families, first-time Disney trips, Polynesian resort fans
Would I return? Yes — especially with kids or visiting family members
Top Tip: Book early, order extra POG juice, and save room for the bread pudding
It’s not the only character breakfast at Walt Disney World Resort — but for many families, it’s the only way they want to start a Disney vacation.
