Ellsworth Urban Park Playground

ellsworth urban park

Ellsworth Urban park looks like the coolest park. Note: I couldn’t get too close because of the parking situation, but I took photos anyway.. you can see the play structures are insanely cool here!

There are two separate play areas, one for younger kids and one for older kids. The older kid play area has some serious slides, climbing features, and other play features that probably even teenagers would love. For that reason, if you are bringing younger kids here.. make sure they stay in the toddler lot area.

The toddler/young kid area looks really fun too! It has shorter slides and lower climbing features.

There are also swings for both older and younger kids.

This looks like an awesome park but the parking situation is currently a struggle.. I am not going to lie. I think they are renovated the park or the parking lot anyway.

If the parking reopens, to get to it, turn on Woodside Pkwy, then turn right on Ellsworth Drive. You will see the playground on your right. If you can park on the street, do that.

Otherwise, just past Springvale Rd I was able to turn right into the dog park parking area.

I didn’t see port-a-potties or restrooms.

Camp Seneca Special Park

Camp Seneca special park

Camp Seneca Special Park– not to be confused with Seneca State Park, is really a fantastic playground.

This is a relatively new, or newly renovated playground with tons of play features for both older and younger kids.

Note: When parking, take the ‘longer’ way to the playground up the paved path. Why? Because if you cut through the basketball court, it’s a pretty steep hill up to the playground. Also, you would have to cross a rockbed, which could be exciting or treacherous for your kids.. depending on their agility and adventure level.

But the playground itself is delightful! There are tunnels and rope bridges, tons of climbing features and slides. It’s nature themed and there are various nature-inspired play elements, as well as a nature scavenger hunt.

There are swings for older kids, younger kids, and kids with accessibility needs.

Pack a lunch! There is a nice, small covered picnic pavilion next to the playground.. on the same higher level as the playground too!

No restroom facilities for the playground area. But there likely are restrooms at the Lodge at Little Seneca Creek, which is co-located with this park. However, since that is an event venue, the restrooms there are likely only open for events and for event patrons.

This playground doesn’t have restrooms at the playground, but there are restroom facilities and port-a-potties throughout the park.

Clarkmont Local Park is really a fantastic park and playground… I would definitely consider this a destination playground.

It’s huge! And there are plenty of play features that both younger and older kids would love.. from toddler through even age 10 or 11.

Note: Unfortunately the big kids playground was destroyed in 2024 due to an arson fire. The community intends to rebuild the playground and it will be awesome. So, I am including it in this list. The younger kids play area was not destroyed.

This out of the way playground really is a hidden gem but it’s sooo worth a visit!
