About Kinder Farm Park
Kinder Farm Park is a 288-acre park located Millersville, MD in Anne Arundel County. It is one of our favorite parks in Maryland because it has a large playground, miles kid friendly trails, recreational activities, and the opportunity to see tons of farm animals, as well as learn about the past and present agricultural practices of Anne Arundel County.
This lovely park would make an excellent Maryland day trip and is one of our top picks for kid friendly activities in Maryland!
Newly Renovated Playground
The Kinder Farm Park Playground went through a massive renovation in 2020 and the new playground is absolutely fantastic. It is farm themed, which is perfect for the farming theme of the entire park.
The playground retained the two levels of the original, with tons of great climbing structures, swings for older and younger kids, and slides that would appeal to both toddlers and older kids.
There are even fun farm-themed ride-on’s!

The playground has a tot-lot ideal for kids who aren’t confident walkers yet, as well as larger play structures for older kids.
Along the perimeter of the playground there are musical instruments kids would love to bang away on as well!
The playground isn’t completely shaded but there are numerous shades over some of the larger play structures. Perfect for a hot summer day!

Picnic Facilities and Outdoor Pavilions
Speaking of shade, I LOVE the fact that there are numerous picnic tables and picnic areas throughout the park. Many of these areas are shaded and there are at least 1/2 a dozen shaded picnic tables right next to the playground.
You can also rent one of the two large outdoor pavilions for birthday parties, community gatherings, and more.

The playground is awesome, but the playground and farm animal combination makes Kinder Farm Park truly special. The animals are cared for by the Kinder Farm Park 4-H Livestock Club.
When we visited there were cows, chickens, a giant rabbit, goats, sheep, pigs, and more!
Also, there were numerous baby animals that were just too cute!
It is an easy walk on a paved path from the playground to the farm animal area.

Agricultural History Program
The farm animals are part of a larger program to educate and demonstrate the agricultural history of Anne Arundel County. At the Kinder Farm Park Visitor Center there are farming artifacts from the early 20th century.
Check the schedule too because on a monthly or weekly basis you might get to see demonstrations! The Chesapeake Forge Blacksmith Guild does blacksmithing demonstrations most Sunday afternoons from 1-4pm. And most Saturday mornings the Sawmill Club will do demonstrations where they feed logs through the mill.
