This puzzle piece heart wreath craft uses a simple puzzle from the Dollar Store. Such a cool and inexpensive craft to make for Valentine’s Day!
There are some really clever ways to use Dollar Store find to make adorable crafts. You can snag a puzzle at the Dollar Store or even upcycle a puzzle with missing pieces into a cute as can be home décor wreath and let your family know that you love them to pieces!
This craft is probably better for older kids, but even young kids could help with the painting!
And honestly, this craft would be so cute hanging up in your house at Valentine’s Day!
It would also make a great gift for a teacher, friend, or relative. So many cute ideas and it’s not expensive at all!
What you will need for this craft:

- Puzzle, 100 Piece – Dollar Store
- Washable Markers – Dollar Store
- Craft Paint – White, Red, Light Pink and Hot Pink (I love this brand!)
- Baker’s Twine – Red and White
- Cardstock – White, 1” by 11” Rectangle
- Chipboard (think recycled cereal or cracker boxes)
- Newspaper or Freezer Paper (to protect work surface)
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks (this is a great option!)
- Scissors
- Craft Knife and Self-Healing Mat
- Paper Trimmer
- Ruler
- Paintbrush

How to Make the Puzzle Piece Heart Wreath
1. Gather all supplies. Basecoat 25 puzzle pieces white, 25 red, 25 hot pink and 25 light pink. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Tip: Freezer paper makes a great, inexpensive cover for your work surface.
2. Download, print and cut heart wreath pattern HERE. Trace onto chipboard, cut outside with scissors and inside with craft knife on a self-healing mat.
3. Randomly attach puzzle pieces to heart wreath base with the glue gun and glue sticks.
4. Apply a second layer of puzzle pieces over top of the first layer. Mix and match the colors and shapes to create an organic pattern.
5. Measure and cut a rectangle of white cardstock one-inch wide and eleven-inches wide.
6. Find the center and write the message “Love You To Pieces” in pencil and then in red marker. Cut a fishtail in each end of the cardstock with scissors.
7. Fold the ends into a “Z” pattern and attach to the heart wreath with the glue gun and glue sticks.
8. Measure and cut a twelve-inch length of red and white baker’s twine and glue to the back of the wreath to use as a hanger.
9. Tie a bow in a second twelve-inch length of baker’s twine and attach to wreath to finish.
