Best Sledding Spots in Maryland (organized by County!)
Did it just snow? Are you wondering where to go sledding and enjoy it? Check out these epic sledding spots in Maryland. They are organized by county!
Central Maryland typically gets at least one good snow a year. Of course, Western Maryland gets a lot more snow and unfortunately Southern and Eastern Maryland tend to lose out on snow day fun.
That means that typically there aren’t well established sledding hills when Maryland kids do catch a break and get a snow day! If you live in a fairly hilly area of Maryland, the best sledding hill is likely in your neighborhood. But if you are looking for the best places to sled, it can be a pain to find that tribal knowledge.
So, I did a ton of research and compiled a list of fantastic sledding spots throughout Maryland.
Baltimore Area/Baltimore County
Herring Run Park
Herring Run Park has a bunch of different hills and many people think this is one of the top places for sledding in the Baltimore area. The hills are long thanks to erosion and there are a bunch of hills of different sizes… so kids will like sledding here too!
Patterson Park
Patterson Park has some amazing sledding hills near the Pagoda (the east side of the park). This hill is quite large and so much fun for kids!
Baltimore County Board of Education Building
If school is out because of snow, be sure to check out this hill! There is a huge hill right next to the building. This sledding spot is referred to as “the Hill”. There is a ditch at the bottom of the hill so warn kids to be careful so they don’t wipe out.
Wyman Park
Located next to Johns Hopkins University. It’s a 16-acre park and the hills are fantastic!
Oregon Ridge Park
This very kid friendly park used to be part of a ski resort (I did not know that before researching this) so the sledding hills are fantastic for winter fun!
