The Best Snacks at Animal Kingdom: 19 Treats Ranked From Good to Absolutely Incredible

Animal Kingdom snacks

From cheeseburger bao buns to the Pineapple Crisp Sundae, here are my 19 favorite Animal Kingdom snacks ranked from good to absolutely incredible.

Estimated reading time: 13 minutes

If you’ve read my food guides for the other Disney parks, you probably already know where this is going.

Animal Kingdom has really good food.

Not just “good for a theme park” good. Just…good.

In fact, I think this was the hardest snack ranking I’ve put together so far—not because there weren’t enough good snacks, but because there were too many. There are very few things in Animal Kingdom that I wouldn’t happily order again.

That’s a nice problem to have.

One thing I also love about Animal Kingdom is that so many of the snacks are actually substantial. Sometimes I don’t want to stop for a full quick service meal, but I also don’t want another cupcake or Mickey bar. Animal Kingdom has plenty of options that land right in that sweet spot. The bao buns, loaded mac and cheese, arepas, seasoned fries, and even the pulled pork fries are all filling enough to keep you going for a while.

As someone who doesn’t always have a huge appetite (especially these days), I really appreciate that.

So, after eating my way around the park over multiple trips, these are the Animal Kingdom snacks I’d recommend, ranked from my least favorite to the ones I think about long after I’ve gone home.

And honestly? Even my lower-ranked snacks are still pretty good.

If you’re looking for something even more filling, be sure to check out my Animal Kingdom Quick Service Guide, where I rank all of the park’s quick service restaurants and share exactly what I’d order at each one.

My Animal Kingdom Snack Rankings

🏆 Tier 1: Worth Planning Your Day Around

These are the snacks that live rent-free in my head.

Do I eat all of them every trip? No.

But I almost always end up getting at least one or two of them because they’re just that good. If you’re only planning to try a handful of snacks in Animal Kingdom, I’d start here.

1. Pineapple Crisp Sundae — Tamu Tamu Refreshments

This is my favorite snack in Animal Kingdom.

Actually…it’s one of my favorite desserts in all of Walt Disney World.

It starts with vanilla soft serve, then adds warm pineapple crisp, caramel sauce, and a buttery streusel topping. It sounds simple, but somehow every bite is perfect. You get creamy ice cream, warm fruit, crunchy topping, and just enough caramel without anything becoming overwhelmingly sweet.

I honestly don’t know why more people don’t talk about this dessert.

If you’re looking for one sweet treat to try in Animal Kingdom, this would be my pick.

2. Cheeseburger Steamed Pods (Bao Buns) — Satu’li Canteen

I know.

“Cheeseburger bao buns” sounds a little strange.

Trust me anyway.

These soft steamed buns are filled with seasoned ground beef that somehow really does taste like a cheeseburger. On the side, you get vegetable slaw along with ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish to complete the whole experience.

They’re filling enough that I sometimes order them instead of a full meal, especially if I’m trying to save room for more snacks later in the day.

They’re unique, they’re delicious, and they’re one of the signature foods of Animal Kingdom for good reason.

This dessert is absolutely ridiculous…

…in the best possible way.

Imagine a thick cookie dough brownie stuffed with vanilla ice cream that’s almost too big to hold comfortably.

It’s rich.

It’s messy.

It’s definitely something I’d recommend sharing unless you’re really hungry.

But wow, is it good.

4. Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse — Satu’li Canteen

I’ve ordered this dessert more than once, and every time I’m reminded why I like it so much.

The blueberry and cream cheese flavors remind me of blueberry cheesecake, but because it’s a mousse, it feels much lighter than an actual slice of cheesecake.

It’s also just beautiful.

Disney deserves credit for making desserts that taste as good as they look, and this is one of the best examples.

This one only shows up during the holidays, but I had to include it.

Disney’s gingerbread cookies are consistently excellent, and this Minnie version is no exception. It’s soft, perfectly spiced, and almost too cute to eat.

Almost.

If you’re visiting Animal Kingdom at Christmas, I’d absolutely pick one up.

⭐ Tier 2: Absolutely Order These

These are all excellent snacks.

In fact, if several of these were in another Disney park, they’d probably crack my Top 5. Animal Kingdom just has an unfair amount of competition.

One thing I especially love about this group is that several of them can double as a light meal. If you’re not in the mood for a full quick service lunch but you also don’t want to survive on cookies and ice cream all day, these are fantastic options.

6. Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork — Eight Spoon Café

I’m a sucker for good mac and cheese, and this one delivers.

The mac and cheese is creamy, the pulled pork adds plenty of smoky flavor, and the barbecue sauce ties everything together. It’s rich enough that I usually think of it as more of a meal than a snack.

If you’re hungry and want something comforting, this is an easy recommendation.

7. Pulled Chicken (or Pulled Pork) Cheese Arepa — The Smiling Crocodile

I honestly don’t think enough people know this stand exists.

The arepas are warm and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and stuffed with plenty of meat and cheese. I’ve had both the chicken and pork versions, and I’d happily order either one again.

It’s another one of those snacks that’s filling enough to replace lunch if you’re trying to maximize your snack budget.

8. French Fries with Pulled Pork & Cheese — Flame Tree Barbecue

There really isn’t much to complain about here.

It’s exactly what it sounds like: crispy fries loaded with pulled pork, mac n’ cheese, and barbecue sauce.

Is it a little over-the-top?

Absolutely.

Do I regret ordering it?

Not even a little.

Just be prepared to share unless you’re really hungry.
And yes.. it’s very similar to the Eight Spoon Cafe version.

9. Seven-Layer Bar — Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery

I love a good seven-layer bar, and Disney makes a really good one.

It’s rich, chewy, sweet, and packed with chocolate, coconut, and butterscotch flavor. If you’re someone who normally gravitates toward brownies or cookie bars, this is an easy choice.

Sometimes simple is exactly what you’re looking for.

10. Churros — Nomad Lounge

These aren’t your average Disney churros.

They’re served warm with vanilla crema and strawberry-guava sauce for dipping, and the sauces really take them to another level.

Honestly, if you’re already planning to stop at Nomad Lounge (which I highly recommend), it’s hard to go wrong with these.

11. Seasoned Fries — Mr. Kamal’s

These fries have developed a bit of a cult following, and I get why.

They’re perfectly crispy and tossed in a seasoning blend that’s a nice change from plain old salt. They’re also served with dipping sauces that make them even better.

It’s not the fanciest snack in Animal Kingdom…

Sometimes fries are just exactly what you want.

12. Pongu Lumpia — Pongu Pongu

If you’ve never had one, think of it as a pineapple cream cheese spring roll.

That description doesn’t really do it justice.

The crispy shell, warm pineapple filling, and sweet cream cheese work surprisingly well together. It’s unique, portable, and one of those snacks that’s become an Animal Kingdom classic.

13. Night Blossom — Pongu Pongu

I’ll admit something.

I’m usually not someone who orders frozen specialty drinks.

But the Night Blossom is the exception.

It’s fruity, refreshing, and probably one of the prettiest drinks you’ll find anywhere in Disney World. The layers of limeade, apple, and pear flavors actually work really well together instead of tasting overly sugary.

Especially on a hot Florida afternoon, this one really hits the spot.

👍 Tier 3: Really Good… But I’d Probably Order Something Else Here

This is where Animal Kingdom’s ridiculously high food quality starts to show.

Both of these are genuinely good.

The problem is that they’re sitting next to some of my favorite snacks in all of Walt Disney World.

14. Carrot Cake Sundae — Terra Treats

I really did enjoy this sundae.

The carrot cake and vanilla ice cream make a great combination, and it’s a fun dessert that’s a little different from the usual chocolate-and-cookie options you’ll find elsewhere.

The only reason it’s this low is because if I’m standing at Terra Treats…

I’m probably ordering the Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich instead.

15. Mangkwan Mousse — Satu’li Canteen

This is another beautiful Disney dessert.

It’s light, fruity, and a nice way to end a meal.

But every time I eat at Satu’li Canteen, I have the same problem.

The Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse exists.

For me, that’s simply the better dessert, so this one usually gets passed over.

🙂 Tier 4: Happy to Eat Them, Just Not My First Pick

These are still good snacks.

If someone in my family ordered either one, I’d happily help them finish it.

I just don’t find myself specifically craving them the way I do some of the higher-ranked snacks.

16. Yeti Sundae — Anandapur Ice Cream Truck

It’s hard to go wrong with soft-serve ice cream in Florida.

The Yeti Sundae is refreshing, fun, and makes a great afternoon treat when you need a break from the heat.

I like it.

I just don’t love it as much as some of the other desserts in Animal Kingdom.

17. Mickey Cinnamon Roll — Creature Comforts

This is a solid Disney cinnamon roll.

It’s soft, sweet, and exactly what you’d expect.

If you’re looking for breakfast or just want something to go with your coffee, it’s a perfectly good choice.

It’s just not something I find myself making a special trip for.

🙂 Tier 5: Fine… But There Are Better Choices Nearby

Here’s the funny thing…

Even my bottom two picks aren’t bad.

That’s probably the biggest compliment I can give Animal Kingdom’s snack scene.

18. Family Churros — Eight Spoon Café

These are perfectly fine.

They’re also a great value if you’re traveling with kids or a larger group because they’re made for sharing.

For me, though, they’re just missing that “wow” factor that so many other Animal Kingdom snacks have.

19. Grilled Corn on the Cob — Harambe Fruit Market

This is probably the only snack on this list that left me a little disappointed.

I wanted to love it.

The idea of grilled corn sounds amazing, but I found it needed a lot more seasoning and flavor than it actually had.

It’s certainly not bad, but after having fantastic grilled corn at places like Roundup Rodeo BBQ and several EPCOT festival booths, this version just didn’t measure up for me.

Final Thoughts

If I had to name one Disney park with the strongest overall snack lineup, Animal Kingdom would probably get my vote.

Not necessarily because it has the single best snack in Disney World—but because it’s so consistently good.

You can find incredible desserts, unique international flavors, hearty snacks that can double as meals, and a surprising number of options that feel like something you’d order outside of a theme park.

If you’re only planning to try a few things, start with the Pineapple Crisp Sundae, Cheeseburger Steamed Pods, or the Cookie Dough Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich. But honestly, I don’t think you can go too wrong with anything near the top of this list.

Animal Kingdom may have been built around incredible animals and immersive lands…

But don’t overlook the food.

Some of Disney World’s best snacks are hiding here.
