Put up your tent in the shade

If you’re able to, find a camping spot for your tent that is in the shade. The trees will help to absorb some of the heat, and you won’t have the sun beating on your tent all day. This will do wonders for helping you stay cool on a really hot summer day. Depending on where you are camping, the sun might move out from behind the trees, so figure out where the sun will be during the hottest parts of the day and where you can find shade during those parts.

Use the breeze

The breeze is a great way to get the air moving in your tent and to cool things off. Even a light breeze can help cool things off. Having even a tiny breeze while you are camping can make things feel cooler. Getting a mesh tent will allow that air to go through the tent, making it easier to cool off. So if you can, try to let your tent door face into the wind to help cool things off.

Choose a tent with a lot of mesh

Mesh tents not only help to protect you from insects and other bugs, but they allow air to pass through the tent easily. While this might not be ideal in the cooler months, it’s perfect for hot summer days. If you have a tent with a lot of mesh, then it can help get some of that fresh air into your tent while still keeping bugs and other unwanted guests out!

Drink plenty of water

Staying hydrated is one of the best things you can do to stay cool while camping. When it’s hot outside, you’re more likely to overheat and sweat, so you’ll need to drink even more water. Remember that your body is made up of nearly sixty percent water, so staying hydrated can help your body stay cool when it’s hot outside.

Rethink your sleeping accommodations

From the sleeping bag you choose, to where you choose to sleep can all play significant factors in how cool you’re able to be while you’re sleeping. Changing from sleeping bags to sheets or adjusting which direction your tent faces can have major impacts on your sleeping and how cool it is while you sleep. Don’t discount these easy ways to make it cooler in your tent!

While you can’t always control the temperature, there are a few things you can do to help make sure that you can stay cool while you’re camping.
