All Disney World Rides Ranked (From Worst to Best)

best rides at Disney World ranked

There are a lot of ways to rank Disney World rides, and I’ve seen just about all of them.

Some lists focus entirely on thrills. Others rank rides by wait times, popularity, or whatever happens to be the newest thing in the parks. And honestly, those lists are useful — just not how I personally plan my days anymore.

This list comes from actually being in the parks, over and over, and noticing patterns in my own behavior. What do I still enjoy when my feet hurt? What feels worth the effort when the day goes sideways? What rides am I genuinely happy I made time for when something else had to get cut?

I changed my mind on a few of these more than once. A couple of rides moved around right up until the end, and there are still a few rankings I could probably argue with myself about. That’s usually a sign this kind of list is doing what it’s supposed to do.

This isn’t a thrill-only ranking or a nostalgia-only ranking. It’s a “would I actually choose this again?” ranking — and that question matters a lot more than it sounds.

And I know it’s super subjective.. so you will definitely disagree with me. But that’s ok.. because this is my list! lol.

How I Ranked These Rides

I didn’t rank rides based on hype, wait times, or how new something is.

Instead, I kept coming back to the same questions:

Would I choose to ride this again if time was limited?

  • How do I feel when I get off the ride?
  • Does this still work for me now — physically and mentally?
  • Is the experience better than the sum of its parts?

Disney trips are full of trade-offs. If a ride consistently loses that battle, it drops. If it consistently delivers, even if it’s a sleeper it, it rises.

Ultimately, I ranked the rides based on how much I personally love it and feel it is a must ride on every Disney trip.

That’s why thrill rides, dark rides, slow rides, and nostalgic classics all live together on this list.

I am going to be super dramatic and start with last place and move up to my favorite rides of all time!

Tier Four: I Will Ride These Only If I Have No Choice

(Ranks #49–#45)

I don’t know if I qualify as an official Disney adult.. but I am definitely a huge Disney fan. I basically detest the rides in this category. And it would be hard to convince me to spend limited park time to ride them.

#49 – Mission: Space (Orange)

This is a hard no for me. The combination of intense spinning, enclosed capsules, and lingering nausea makes this the least appealing ride on property. I respect it. I do not enjoy it. And there is zero chance I will ride this and risk nausea for the rest of the day.. especially during Flower and Garden Festival (hello violet lemonade!).

#48 – Journey Into Imagination with Figment

I love Figment. I really do. But the ride itself feels chaotic, dated, and oddly overstimulating without being especially fun. It’s more confusing than charming. And really? A fart smell? I could easily visit Disney 100 times without having experienced that smell.

#47 – Mad Tea Party

This ride depends entirely on who you’re riding with, and how much spinning you can tolerate. For me, it usually delivers more nausea than joy. I can’t do spinning. So, any teacup ride is a hard no for me.

#46 – Tomorrowland Speedway

Loud, smelly, and exhausting in a way that doesn’t feel intentional. It’s one of the few rides that actively makes its surrounding land feel worse. I mean, I suppose I could ride it during the Christmas party because of the fun holiday overlay. But that would be the only exception.

#45 – Kali River Rapids

Short, unpredictable, and rarely worth soaked shoes. When it’s hot, it’s fine. Otherwise, I skip it.

Tier Three: Fine, But Not a Priority

(Ranks #44–#35)

I don’t hate these rides. Actually, for some of them I really do try to ride them on every trip.. and I will even use a lightning lane for them.

But they don’t have that ‘Wow’ factor for me, and if I don’t ride them I don’t really care that much. Meh… that’s how I ultimately feel about them.

#44 – Walt Disney World Railroad

Relaxing and nostalgic, but rarely a must-do for me. I usually ride it when my feet are begging for mercy. It would/will be higher on the list when the entire railroad is running again. But for now it’s low because it is just.. unnecessary.

#43 – Mission: Space (Green)

Much more tolerable than Orange, but still not something I seek out. It feels like a compromise ride. It’s fine, but like the Walt Disney World Railroad, it is just.. unnecessary.

#42 – Alien Swirling Saucers

Cute in the moment, forgettable immediately after. Fun, but not memorable. And yes, I know this is also a spinner ride. But you can control the spinning more than the Mad Hatter Teacups. And honestly, it’s Toy Story themed!

#41 – Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster

I know this is in the top tier for a lot of people. It’s just too jerky for me. I like the Aerosmith theme but not enough to spend a lightning lane on this ride. That being said, once it is re-themed to the Muppets, I will likely try it out again!

#40 – Astro Orbiter

The views are nice, but the loading process often feels longer than the ride itself. This isn’t a bad ride, and the view is nice. But it’s kind of boring too.

#39 – The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

This is exactly the same ride as Astro Orbiter and Dumbo. It’s gets points for the fact you can get sprayed by the camel. It loses points because the line is way to long for such a snoozer of a ride.. and the line is in the heat.

#38 – The Seas With Nemo & Friends

Sweet and visually calming, but long and slow. This is more about resting than riding. Out of all the slow dark rides, this is probably my least favorite. But if you have young kids this ride is still adorable.

#37 – Prince Charming Regal Carrousel

Beautiful and classic, but very straightforward. It does exactly what you expect. I don’t ride this carrousel every Disney trip, but I am never sorry I rode it when I do.

#36 – The Barnstormer

Perfect for young kids, but over almost instantly. Still, it’s a cute ride and fun.. even if it’s super short.

#35 – Dumbo the Flying Elephant

An icon, no question. The queue is better than the ride, which is gentle but repetitive. I really do love this ride. But if I miss it, I am not crying either.

Tier Two: Excellent Rides I Try to Do Most Trips

(Ranks #34–#20)

These rides are not my top tier, but I always try really hard to experience them every Disney trip. And I will be kind of bummed if I don’t ride them.

#34 – Wildlife Express Train to Conservation Station

This one is really about what’s on the other end. The train itself is fine, but Rafiki’s Planet Watch makes it worthwhile. And specifically, the Animation Experience is the must do attraction. I am super sad this is permanently closing in February 2026. But the new Bluey Experience will likely make this train a must do again.

#33 – Na’vi River Journey

This is really a gorgeous dark boat ride and when you ride it is just so peaceful and calming. Well, and the Shaman of Songs animatronic will blow you away.

Unfortunately, the ride is pretty short and the line can typically be longer than I am willing to wait. That being said, if I am purchasing Multipass for Animal Kingdom, this is a high priority ride for me.

#32 – Frozen Ever After

Strong characters and a memorable drop, but the wait often outweighs the experience for me. This is a solid pick for rope drop and early entry. And if you can swing a lightning lane reservation, I would definitely use it here.

If you have an Anna and Elsa lover in your travel group, pair this ride with the character meet and greet. And maybe reserve breakfast at Akershus Royal Dining… so you can meet 5 more princesses!

#31 – The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Whimsical, clever, and easy to enjoy. A solid dark ride that’s often overlooked. I find this ride is easier to get on than Peter Pan, but as a Tier 2 multipass ride, the lightning lanes can definitely be gobbled up fast each day.

#30 – Gran Fiesta Tour

Charming and underrated. This dark boat ride in the Mexico pavilion is super fun and features Donald Duck, the Three Caballeros, and Mexico!

#29 – Peter Pan’s Flight

Honestly, it was hard to rank #31-#29 because they are all nice rides.. but none of them will knock your socks off. Peter Pan is probably more immersive than the other two and the line is cute. But the long wait for this ride is pretty unwarranted in my opinion.

#28 – Space Mountain

A classic thrill ride, though rougher than many people remember. I do love this ride and the fact that it’s pitch black means you can’t see the twists and turns. This is both thrilling.. and helps me not to get motion sickness.

#27 – Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid

Bright, cheerful, and consistently pleasant. I really do love this dark ride. It covers all the Little Mermaid songs, it’s a fairly long ride, and I have never waited more than 5 minutes to ride it.

#26 – Spaceship Earth

This ride is pure nostalgia. Spaceship Earth is Epcot Edutainment at its finest. Yes, it is now dated. But I still love it. And bonus.. it’s a seated ride in air conditioning that lasts a pretty long time.

#25 – Star Tours

I will always want to go on an adventure with C3PO. For real, this ride is really a lot of fun. And recently they added a bunch of updated stories, so you could ride Star Tours 5 times in a row and still get a different story.

#24 – Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

This ride quietly saves more Disney days than it gets credit for.

It’s one of the few places in Magic Kingdom where nothing is being asked of you. You just sit, move, and watch the park go by. By the time I get off, I’m usually ready to keep going again.

The best time to ride the PeopleMover is during fireworks. Classic Disney!

#23 – Jungle Cruise

This ride lives and dies by the skipper, and that’s part of the charm.

When it’s good, it’s really good. When it’s not, it’s still fine — just not memorable. I don’t build my day around it, but if the timing works, I’m usually glad I rode it.

#22 – Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Adorable, immersive, and family-friendly. A great experience even without thrills. I think I like the 2D version better than the 3D version.

#21 – Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

This is one of those rides where the experience itself is lovely, but the math doesn’t always work.

It’s smooth, beautifully themed, and genuinely fun. It’s just very short for how long the wait often is. I enjoy it every time, but I don’t feel heartbroken if it gets skipped.

#20 – Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

This ride is very dependent on who you’re riding with.

Being a pilot is genuinely fun. Anything else is… fine. When it works, it really works. When it doesn’t, it slides down the list.

Tier One: The Best Rides in Disney World

(These are the rides that actually shape how I plan my days)

Yes, Tier One. Honestly, I love every ride on this part of the list and will actively stay in the parks later, buy lightning lanes, and skip other attractions to make sure I get to ride them.

#19 – Living with the Land

This is the ride that sneaks up on people.

It’s slow, quiet, and very EPCOT — and somehow that makes it one of the most satisfying rides on property for me. By the time I get off, my shoulders have dropped and my brain has slowed down. I could ride this twice in a row and not be annoyed.

best disney world rides for all ages

#18 – Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

This ride should probably feel more dated than it does.

And yet — every time — it turns into competitive nonsense in the best way. It doesn’t demand much, but it still gives me a reason to care.

I can’t wait to see how this ride is after the renovations in 2026.

#17 – Tower of Terror

I never have to talk myself into riding this.

The mood is set before you even board, and once the doors close, you’re locked in. It’s intense, but not in a way that leaves me wiped out afterward.

#16 – Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

This one surprised me.

It feels joyful, colorful, and layered enough that it doesn’t feel one-and-done. I also appreciate that it stands on its own rather than leaning entirely on nostalgia.

#15 – Slinky Dog Dash

I forget how fun this is until I’m already on it.

It looks tame. It isn’t. It’s smooth, playful, and just thrilling enough without tipping into scary. If you have kids, this is the perfect first rollercoaster for them to try out.

#14 – “It’s a Small World”

Yes, it’s here.

This ride honestly gives me all the feels. I love the themes of unity and kindness. And those dolls are so stinking cute. This ride is visually stunning and I always leave with a huge grin on my face.

#13 – Kilimanjaro Safaris

This ride is different every single time, and that alone earns its ranking.

Sometimes it’s incredible. Sometimes it’s quiet. Either way, I never regret riding it.

And if the ride is timed well, and the lion pride is out on their rock? Well, that’s just majestic!

#12 – Haunted Mansion

Everything about this ride works.

The pacing, the humor, the details — none of it feels accidental. It’s spooky without being scary and funny without being corny. Well, ok. It’s totally corny. But in a nostalgic kind of way. This is a must do every time I am in Magic Kingdom.

#11 – Test Track

This scratches a very specific itch.

I don’t care that I routinely drive faster than 65mph. I don’t do it with the top down on a racetrack. Test Track is such a thrill and Test Track 3.0 is a major upgrade.

#10 – Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean is probably the most immersive of the dark boat rides. And it’s utterly spectacular!

I love spotting Johnny Depp’s pirate throughout the ride. And sometimes we even get splashed by cannonballs!

#9 – Soarin’

Sit in B Concourse, Row 1. Trust me.

Soarin’ is just such an exhilarating experience. I love the smells of grass in Africa and jasmine at the Taj Mahal. I love that the Eiffel Tower leans… a little too much. I am always so sad when we get back to Epcot. A short ride around the world. Perfection.

#8 – Expedition Everest

I mean, don’t you want to get chased by a Yeti? This ride is so fun and super kitschy at the same time. The rollercoaster is thrilling but not so scary that is scares to make you sick.

And the theming is top notch!

#7 – Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

This ride puts me in a better mood.. and I struggled with where to rank it, because I love everything about the ride.

It’s playful, surprising, and genuinely happy. And I love that it’s the only ride in Disney World that actually features Mickey Mouse!

#6 – Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

I know this is the favorite ride of a lot of folks. I do love it, but it’s not my favorite because I have to concentrate not to get sick. Ha!

But this ride is pure joy. It’s smooth, funny, and wildly re-rideable. The music element makes each ride feel just different enough. And there is no debate, the best song to get is ‘Everybody Want To Rule The World’.

#5 – Toy Story Mania

Talk about pure joy and fun. I can pull that trigger as fast as anyone. I just can’t aim as well. Still, I could ride this ride back to back and keep going back for more!

It’s competitive, silly, and just as fun for adults as it is for kids.

#4 – Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

This is the gold standard for family thrills.

It’s reliable, exciting, and endlessly re-rideable. I love how fast it is.. and the updated ride in 2026 should be amazing!

best thrill rides at disney world

#3 – TRON Lightcycle / Run

Tron is a must do ride at night. And I always purchase an Individual Lightning Lane so I can pick a time once the sun goes down.

This is a short ride, but the reason it’s so short is because it goes.. FAST! What a thrilling rocket this ride is!

The launch alone earns this spot.

#2 – Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Rise of the Resistance barely feels like a ride.

Honestly, this ride is more an experience than anything else. I can’t think of anything at Disney World that is more immersive. And if you are a Star Wars fan, wow.. this ride delivers!

#1 – Avatar Flight of Passage

This is the ride I compare everything else to.

It’s immersive, emotional, and still delivers that “wow” feeling even after multiple rides. Nothing else quite competes for me. I do hate the line. Sorry.. I said what I said.

But nothing compares to feeling like you are literally flying! I love it!

Final Thoughts

If there’s one thing this list makes clear, it’s that Disney World rides don’t all age the same way — and neither do we. Some attractions I once sprinted to are now easy skips, while others I barely noticed years ago have become non-negotiables. That’s part of what makes Disney trips interesting over time. Your priorities change, your tolerance changes, and suddenly the rides that matter most aren’t always the loudest or newest ones.

If your rankings look different than mine, that’s not a flaw — it’s kind of the whole point. This list isn’t meant to be definitive. It’s meant to be honest. And if it helps you decide what’s worth your time (or sparks a little internal debate while you’re planning), then it’s done its job.
