UK Pavilion at EPCOT: Food, Characters & Things to Do- Sunshine Whispers

Explore the UK Pavilion at EPCOT, including Winnie the Pooh and Alice, fish and chips, Rose & Crown, Twinings tea, gardens, shopping and more.

There are some World Showcase pavilions that impress you with massive attractions. Others have elaborate museums, huge restaurants, or architecture that practically demands you stop and stare.

And then there is the UK Pavilion.

The UK Pavilion at EPCOT just feels… familiar.

It’s warm and cozy and charming in a way that makes me want to slow down every time I walk through it. There isn’t a ride here. There isn’t even one enormous attraction that you absolutely have to see.

Instead, you get little streets lined with Tudor-style buildings, beautiful gardens, red telephone booths, British shops, live music, really good fish and chips, and some of my favorite classic Disney characters.

This is not a pavilion you need to conquer.

It’s a pavilion where you should hang out for a while.

Where Is the UK Pavilion at EPCOT?

The UK Pavilion is located in World Showcase between the France Pavilion and Canada Pavilion.

It’s also one of the first World Showcase pavilions you’ll encounter if you enter EPCOT through the International Gateway. That makes it especially convenient if you’re arriving from the EPCOT-area resorts or taking the Disney Skyliner into the park.

But don’t make the mistake of treating the UK as simply the place you walk through on your way somewhere else.

Some of the best parts are tucked away from the main World Showcase promenade.

Take Some Time to Wander Around the UK Pavilion

One of my favorite things about the UK Pavilion is that it doesn’t look like one single place.

Instead, Disney created a collection of buildings inspired by different periods and styles of British architecture. As you wander through the pavilion, you’ll see everything from half-timbered Tudor buildings and thatched roofs to brick townhouses and more formal architecture.

It feels a little like Disney condensed several centuries of Britain into one extremely tidy neighborhood. 😂

And you really should walk back into it.

There are little streets, gardens and courtyards that you won’t fully appreciate if you stay on the main World Showcase walkway.

This is also where you’ll find one of the most iconic little details in the pavilion.

Take a Picture With the Red Telephone Booths

You can’t have a miniature version of the United Kingdom without red telephone booths.

There are several classic red phone boxes around the pavilion, and they’re such an easy, fun photo stop.

No Lightning Lane required. No 45-minute standby wait.

Just climb inside a phone booth and pretend it’s still 1987. 😂

The Gardens Are One of the Best Parts of the UK Pavilion

Don’t overlook the gardens behind the buildings.

Seriously.

This entire back section of the UK Pavilion is lovely, and it’s one of those places where you can momentarily forget that you’re walking around one of the busiest theme parks in the world.

You’ll find winding paths, flowers, manicured hedges, trees and plenty of little details that make the whole area feel much more like an English garden than theme park landscaping.

It’s also worth walking back here because this is where you’ll find some of the pavilion’s live entertainment.

Listen to Command Performance

If Command Performance is playing while you’re visiting, go check them out.

This British rock cover band performs in the gazebo toward the back of the UK Pavilion, and they’re really fun.

They play recognizable British rock hits, so this isn’t one of those performances where you have to know anything about the music beforehand to enjoy it. You can just wander over, find a spot and listen.

And this is one of the reasons I like the location so much.

There are benches around the garden, including some shaded or partially shaded places to sit. After you’ve already walked several miles around EPCOT, sitting under a tree while a band plays British rock music isn’t exactly a hardship. 😂

You don’t necessarily need to stay for an entire set, either. If you happen to hear the music while you’re walking through the pavilion, head back and listen for a few songs.

TIP: Entertainment schedules can change, so check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for current performances and showtimes.

The UK Pavilion Is Fantastic for Character Meet and Greets

This might be the most underrated thing about the UK Pavilion.

There isn’t a ride here, but there are three major character meet-and-greet opportunities associated with the pavilion—and they’re some pretty fantastic characters.

We’re talking about Alice, Mary Poppins and Winnie the Pooh.

I’ve now met two out of the three.

Mary Poppins continues to evade me. 😂

Meet Alice in Wonderland

Alice is one of the classic characters you can meet in the UK Pavilion, and I absolutely think she’s worth stopping for if she’s meeting during your visit.

Her meet-and-greet location also happens to be beautiful, with World Showcase Lagoon behind her. Depending on exactly where you’re standing, you can even see other pavilions across the water.

It’s such a quintessential EPCOT character experience.

Alice also fits the pavilion perfectly. Instead of meeting her inside a generic character room, you’re meeting Alice in this little English setting that feels like it belongs in her story.

Check the My Disney Experience app for her appearance times because character schedules can change.

Meet Winnie the Pooh in Christopher Robin’s Room

Okay.

I finally did it.

On my most recent trip, I specifically carved out time to meet the ultimate honey bear himself: Winnie the Pooh.

And he is SO CUTE. 😂

Pooh meets guests inside Christopher Robin’s bedroom, which makes this considerably more charming than simply finding Pooh standing in front of a backdrop somewhere.

The room itself feels like part of the experience.

And yes, adults can absolutely meet Winnie the Pooh without children.

I did.

Zero regrets. 😂

If Pooh is one of your favorite classic Disney characters, I would make time for this one.

And Maybe You’ll Finally Find Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins is the third major character associated with the UK Pavilion.

And somehow, despite the number of times I have been to EPCOT, she remains my elusive white whale.

Or perhaps my elusive flying nanny. 😂

I have seen her meeting here. I know she exists. I simply haven’t managed to line up my schedule with hers yet.

Mary Poppins traditionally meets guests in the UK Pavilion’s garden setting, which might be one of the most perfect character-and-location combinations in World Showcase.

So yes, she’s still on my list.

As with Alice and Pooh, check the current character schedule in the My Disney Experience app rather than assuming she’ll be appearing at a particular time.

Don’t Ignore the UK Pavilion Just Because It Doesn’t Have a Ride

I think this is where people sometimes get World Showcase wrong.

If you’re looking at EPCOT purely as a list of rides, the UK Pavilion doesn’t appear to have much going on.

But that’s not really what this pavilion is about.

You can meet three beloved Disney characters. You can listen to live British rock music. You can wander through some of the prettiest gardens in World Showcase. You can explore the little streets and architecture. You can take pictures with the red telephone booths.

And we haven’t even talked about the food or shopping yet.

Which is important.

Because I have thoughts about those fish and chips. 😂

And there is an entire Twinings tea shop waiting for us.

So let’s talk about what to eat—and where to shop—in the UK Pavilion.

Where to Eat in the UK Pavilion at EPCOT

Dining in the UK Pavilion is pretty straightforward.

You basically have two primary choices: Rose & Crown Dining Room for table service and Yorkshire County Fish Shop for quick service.

And there is quite a bit of overlap between them—most importantly, fish and chips.

Which is perfectly fine with me because the fish and chips here are really good.

And I say this as someone who is not naturally enthusiastic about fried fish.

I grew up in the 1970s and 80s, when frozen fish sticks apparently counted as a legitimate dinner. I have memories. 😂

Thankfully, what you’re getting at EPCOT bears very little resemblance to those sad little rectangles from my childhood.

Rose & Crown Dining Room

Rose & Crown is the UK Pavilion’s table-service restaurant, designed to feel like a traditional British pub.

The menu leans heavily into familiar British comfort food, and this is a good choice if you want to sit down, get out of the EPCOT chaos for a while and have an actual meal.

But the fish and chips are probably the thing most people associate with Rose & Crown.

They’re crispy, substantial and genuinely delicious.

And if you want the full British-pub experience, Rose & Crown gives you more of that than simply grabbing food from the quick-service window.

The restaurant’s location along World Showcase Lagoon is also a major part of its appeal. Depending on where you’re seated, some tables have lovely waterfront views.

If you’re considering Rose & Crown specifically because you’re hoping for a nighttime spectacular view, however, I wouldn’t assume that every table is going to give you the same experience. Treat a great lagoon-side table as a bonus unless you’ve booked an experience that specifically includes reserved fireworks viewing.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

But here’s the important thing:

You don’t need a Rose & Crown reservation just to get really good fish and chips.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop is right next door and serves them quick-service style.

If fish and chips are the main thing you want, this is such an easy option.

Order your food, grab a table if you can find one, and you’ve got one of the most iconic meals in World Showcase without committing to a table-service reservation.

The portions are substantial, too. Depending on how hungry you are, this can easily work as a full meal rather than just a snack.

Personally, this is exactly the kind of World Showcase food I like: recognizable, satisfying and actually good.

1978 freezer fish sticks, you have officially been redeemed. 😂

Shopping in the UK Pavilion

The UK Pavilion also has some surprisingly good shopping.

You’ll find British-themed merchandise, apparel, souvenirs and plenty of Disney merchandise with a UK twist as you wander through the connected shops.

This is another place where I recommend actually going inside instead of just looking through the windows as you walk past.

But there is one shop in particular that I really love.

Stop in the Twinings Tea Shop

If you like tea, don’t skip the Twinings shop.

This is not just a Disney gift shop that happens to have a few boxes of tea sitting on a shelf. There is a substantial selection of actual Twinings tea, including varieties that make this a genuinely fun place to browse if you’re a tea drinker.

And the shop itself is adorable.

Stone floors. Dark wood beams. A big old-fashioned fireplace. Shelves filled with tea.

It feels warm and cozy and very, very British.

This is one of those World Showcase shops where the interior is almost as much fun as the merchandise.

And unlike plenty of Disney souvenirs that I can successfully convince myself I don’t need, tea is consumable.

Therefore it doesn’t count.

I have decided this. 😂

Don’t Forget the Kidcot Fun Stop

Like the other World Showcase pavilions, the UK has a Kidcot Fun Stop where kids can collect the pavilion’s activity card and interact with a Cast Member.

If you’re doing Kidcot around World Showcase, make sure you don’t accidentally skip this one while you’re wandering through the shops and gardens.

Kidcot is particularly nice for younger kids who may not care nearly as much as you do about charming architecture and imported tea. 😂

And Yes, There Are Good Restrooms Here

This is not glamorous travel advice.

It is, however, useful travel advice.

The UK Pavilion is another World Showcase location with a good restroom situation.

When you’re spending an entire day at EPCOT—especially with kids, grandparents, or frankly any functioning human being—knowing where the convenient restrooms are matters.

File this information away.

Future you may be grateful. 😂

How Much Time Should You Spend in the UK Pavilion?

If you’re simply walking through the UK Pavilion, you could probably see the main promenade in ten minutes.

But I wouldn’t do that.

Give yourself at least 20–30 minutes if you want to wander through the gardens, explore the shops, take some pictures and see what’s happening.

Add more time if you want to meet Alice, Pooh or Mary Poppins, catch Command Performance, eat fish and chips, or sit in the garden for a while.

You could very easily spend an hour here without doing anything that resembles a traditional theme park attraction.

And that’s kind of the point.

Is the UK Pavilion Good for Kids?

Yes—and I actually think it’s better for kids than it might initially appear.

There isn’t a ride, but there are some pretty big character draws.

Winnie the Pooh alone could make this pavilion worth visiting for the right kid. Add Alice and Mary Poppins, Kidcot, the gardens, live music and the novelty of climbing into a red telephone booth, and there’s plenty to break up the World Showcase walking.

And fish and chips aren’t exactly an intimidating meal for most kids.

Unless they, too, have unresolved freezer fish-stick trauma. 😂

Is the UK Pavilion Worth Visiting Without Kids?

Absolutely.

In fact, this may be one of those World Showcase pavilions I appreciate even more as an adult.

Have a meal at Rose & Crown. Browse Twinings. Listen to Command Performance. Wander through the gardens. Sit on a bench in the shade.

Or meet Winnie the Pooh.

Again: adults are allowed to meet Pooh.

I have conducted the research personally. 😂

What Should You Absolutely Not Miss in the UK Pavilion?

If I had to narrow the UK Pavilion down to just a few things, I would explore the back garden area, check the character schedule and get the fish and chips if you’re hungry.

And if Command Performance happens to be playing while you’re there, even better.

But more than anything, walk into the pavilion.

Don’t just stay on the World Showcase promenade.

That’s where you’ll find the gardens, character locations, shops and so much of the atmosphere that makes this pavilion work.

The UK Pavilion Is Especially Beautiful During Flower & Garden

Okay, this pavilion really shows off during the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.

The gardens are already an important part of the UK Pavilion, so Flower & Garden feels particularly at home here.

Disney fills the area with even more flowers and landscaping, and the pavilion has traditionally been home to some fantastic character topiaries.

I’ve seen Peter Pan and Captain Hook here, along with Winnie the Pooh and friends—and the setting makes them even better.

It’s perfect. 😂

And this isn’t a situation where I would rush in, snap a picture of the topiary and immediately leave. Walk through the gardens themselves. Some of my favorite Flower & Garden photos from this pavilion aren’t even of the topiaries. They’re simply pictures of the flowers, pathways and buildings.

The entire area feels like it was made for this festival.

Exact topiary characters and locations can change from year to year, of course, so check the current festival displays when you visit.

Is the UK Pavilion at EPCOT Worth Visiting?

Definitely.

But I don’t think the UK Pavilion is worth visiting because of one enormous attraction.

There isn’t one.

It’s worth visiting because all of the smaller things work together.

The architecture is charming. The gardens are beautiful. The characters are fantastic. Command Performance gives you a reason to sit down and stay awhile. The shopping is fun. The Twinings shop is genuinely worth browsing. And those fish and chips are really, really good.

There are other World Showcase pavilions that make me feel like I need to do something.

The UK Pavilion makes me want to hang out.

Maybe that’s why it feels so familiar.

Grab some fish and chips. Wander through the garden. Find Pooh. Buy some tea. Sit under a tree and listen to British rock music.

And take the obligatory red telephone booth picture.

Sometimes that’s enough.

Actually, at EPCOT?

That’s pretty fantastic.
