EPCOT Characters Guide: Every Character Meet, Character Dining Experience, and Hidden Surprise

Meet Disney characters throughout EPCOT, including princesses, Figment, Moana, Mickey, character dining, hidden meet-and-greets, and seasonal surprises in this Epcot Characters Guide.
Estimated reading time: 21 minutes
If you’re hoping to meet Disney characters at EPCOT, you’re in for a treat—but it helps to know what to expect.
Unlike Magic Kingdom, where character experiences are concentrated into dedicated meet-and-greets, EPCOT spreads its characters throughout the park. You can dine with Disney friends, meet princesses around World Showcase, hug Figment, chat with Moana, or simply turn a corner and discover a character you weren’t expecting at all.
In fact, some of my favorite Disney character memories have happened at EPCOT precisely because they weren’t planned.
Maybe we rounded a corner in the United Kingdom pavilion and found Mary Poppins greeting guests. Maybe Joy wandered into the Imagination Pavilion just as we walked by. Or maybe we happened to visit around Valentine’s Day and discovered princesses meeting with their princes—a rare experience you won’t find most days of the year.
That’s part of what makes EPCOT so special.
This guide covers every character dining experience, permanent meet-and-greet location, regularly scheduled character appearance, roaming character, and attraction where you’ll find your favorite Disney friends.

If you’re planning to visit more than one Disney park, be sure to check out my complete Disney World Characters Guide, where I cover every character meet-and-greet, character dining experience, and surprise appearance across all four parks.
Character Dining at EPCOT
If meeting multiple characters is one of your vacation priorities, character dining is easily the most efficient way to do it.
Rather than waiting in multiple lines throughout the park, the characters come directly to your table while you enjoy a meal.
EPCOT currently offers two character dining experiences, and they couldn’t be more different.
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
Located inside the Norway Pavilion, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is EPCOT’s princess dining experience.
While character lineups occasionally change, you’ll typically meet several Disney Princesses throughout your meal, making this one of the best ways to see multiple princesses without spending much of your park day waiting in meet-and-greet queues.
If your kids love Disney royalty—or if you’re a princess fan yourself—this is one of the most popular reservations in EPCOT.

Garden Grill Restaurant
Garden Grill offers an entirely different experience.
Located inside The Land Pavilion, this rotating restaurant features Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Chip, and Dale wearing adorable farmer outfits that you won’t find anywhere else in Walt Disney World.
The family-style meal is relaxed, the atmosphere is surprisingly quiet compared to many character meals, and the slowly rotating dining room provides constantly changing views of the Living with the Land attraction below.
It’s easily one of the most underrated character dining experiences at Disney World.

Dedicated Character Meet-and-Greet Locations
If you want the most reliable places to meet characters, these permanent locations are your best bet.
Unlike some World Showcase characters that appear only during scheduled sets, these locations are specifically designed for character greetings and operate consistently throughout the day.
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy (CommuniCore Hall)
If you’re looking for the “Fab Three,” head to CommuniCore Hall in World Celebration.
This indoor location lets you meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy in one convenient stop, making it one of the easiest ways to check several classic Disney characters off your list.
Because it’s indoors, it’s also a great option during Florida’s frequent afternoon rain showers or on especially hot summer days.

Anna and Elsa (Norway Pavilion)
The Royal Sommerhus in the Norway Pavilion remains one of EPCOT’s most popular character experiences.
Anna and Elsa greet guests in a beautifully themed setting inspired by their home in Arendelle, and the detailed queue continues the Frozen storytelling before you even meet them.
If Frozen is one of your family’s favorite movies, expect this to be one of the longest character waits in the park.

Figment (Imagination Pavilion)
There are plenty of Disney characters throughout EPCOT, but only one truly belongs to the park itself.
Figment has become the unofficial mascot of EPCOT, and meeting him is practically a rite of passage for longtime Disney fans.
His colorful imagination-themed meet-and-greet is located inside the Imagination Pavilion near Journey Into Imagination with Figment, making it easy to combine both experiences.
If you’ve never met Figment before, don’t be surprised if he ends up becoming one of your favorite character interactions of the day.

Winnie the Pooh (United Kingdom Pavilion)
Tucked into Christopher Robin’s bedroom in the United Kingdom Pavilion, Winnie the Pooh has one of the most charming meet-and-greet locations anywhere in Walt Disney World.
The whimsical setting feels perfectly at home inside the UK gardens, and Pooh is almost always his lovable, huggable self.
It’s a quieter meet than many of the park’s headliners and often one of the sweetest character interactions for younger children.

Moana (Journey of Water)
One of EPCOT’s newest character experiences is also one of its most fitting.
After exploring Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, guests can often meet Moana nearby in her own dedicated greeting area.
The lush landscaping and natural setting make this one of the most beautiful character photo locations in the park, and it pairs perfectly with one of EPCOT’s newest attractions.

Scheduled Character Meet-and-Greets Around World Showcase
One of the biggest differences between meeting characters at EPCOT and Magic Kingdom is that the characters feel like they’re part of the countries they represent.
Instead of walking from one dedicated meet-and-greet building to the next, you’ll naturally discover characters as you explore World Showcase. I actually love this approach because it encourages you to slow down and enjoy each pavilion instead of racing from one line to another.
Just remember that these aren’t all-day meet-and-greets. Most characters appear at scheduled times throughout the day, so be sure to check the My Disney Experience app for the latest schedule.
France Pavilion
France is one of the best places in EPCOT to meet Disney princesses.
Both Belle and Aurora regularly greet guests here, although they typically alternate appearance times rather than meeting together.
I also think this pavilion deserves bonus points for its photo backgrounds. Between the gardens, fountains, and Parisian architecture, it’s hard to take a bad picture here.

United Kingdom Pavilion
The United Kingdom is another pavilion that’s almost always worth walking through if you’re hoping to meet characters.
In addition to Winnie the Pooh’s permanent meet-and-greet nearby, you’ll often find Alice or Mary Poppins greeting guests throughout the day.
Both characters feel perfectly at home here, and the quiet English gardens make this one of my favorite corners of World Showcase to simply slow down for a few minutes.

Morocco Pavilion
If you’re hoping to meet Princess Jasmine, head over to the Morocco Pavilion.
This is another one of those locations where the setting really enhances the experience. The detailed courtyards and beautiful architecture make it feel like Jasmine stepped right out of Agrabah.

Germany Pavilion
The Germany Pavilion is home to Snow White, Disney’s very first princess.
She’s usually one of the easier princesses to meet in EPCOT, and the charming village backdrop fits her story perfectly.

China Pavilion
You’ll often find Mulan greeting guests in the China Pavilion.
This has always been one of my favorite places for character photos because the temple, gardens, and landscaping create such a peaceful setting.

Mexico Pavilion
Donald Duck doesn’t just meet guests in EPCOT—he does it in style.
You’ll usually find him outside the Mexico Pavilion wearing his colorful sombrero, and it’s easily one of my favorite versions of Donald anywhere in Walt Disney World.

Near the Front of the Park
Not every character is tucked away in World Showcase.
Near the front of EPCOT, you’ll often find Asha from Wish greeting guests close to Port of Entry, while Pluto regularly appears in World Celebration.
If you’re entering the park early, these can be great character stops before making your way toward the back of the park.

Near Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Marvel fans have one unique opportunity at EPCOT.
Star-Lord frequently greets guests outside Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, making this one of the few places at Walt Disney World where you can meet a Marvel character.
International Gateway
If you’re entering EPCOT from the Skyliner, BoardWalk, or one of the nearby Crescent Lake resorts, don’t rush past International Gateway.
Daisy Duck often greets guests in this area, and since many visitors enter through the front of the park, her line can sometimes be shorter than you’d expect.

Keep Your Eyes Open for Roaming Characters
One of my favorite things about EPCOT is that not every character interaction is planned.
We’ve had several moments over the years where we simply happened to be in the right place at the right time and stumbled across a character we weren’t expecting to see.
We’ve spotted Disney princes wandering through World Showcase, seen Joy and Vanellope surprise guests near the Imagination Pavilion, and even run into Merida when she wasn’t listed anywhere on the schedule.

Those surprise encounters have become some of my favorite Disney memories because they weren’t something we spent weeks planning. They just happened.
That’s part of EPCOT’s charm.
If you’re constantly racing to your next Lightning Lane or dining reservation, it’s easy to miss these little moments. But if you slow down, wander through the pavilions, and keep your eyes open, EPCOT has a way of rewarding you with unexpected Disney magic.

One Little Detail That Makes EPCOT Feel Different
Here’s something I didn’t really appreciate until we’d visited EPCOT several times.
Many of the characters around World Showcase greet guests with a few words from their native language before switching to English.
It’s a small touch, but it fits EPCOT perfectly.
Whether it’s Anna and Elsa in Norway, Mulan in China, or Jasmine in Morocco, those little cultural details help the interactions feel more authentic and connected to the pavilion you’re visiting.
It’s one more reason why character meet-and-greets at EPCOT have a different feel than anywhere else in Walt Disney World. Instead of feeling like you’re simply waiting in line for a photo, it often feels like you’ve stepped into the characters’ corner of the world.
Disney Characters You’ll Find Inside EPCOT Attractions
Not every character experience at EPCOT ends with a hug or a photo.
Some of the park’s most beloved Disney characters are part of the attractions themselves, and honestly, a few of these experiences are just as memorable as a traditional meet-and-greet.
Frozen Ever After
If your family loves Frozen, riding Frozen Ever After is almost like stepping into the movie.
You’ll sail through Arendelle alongside Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, Sven, and everyone’s favorite Snowgies as the story unfolds around you.
Even if you’ve already met Anna and Elsa nearby at the Royal Sommerhus, I still recommend riding this attraction. The two experiences complement each other really well.

Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros
Hidden inside the Mexico Pavilion is one of EPCOT’s most underrated rides.
Donald Duck takes center stage as José Carioca and Panchito help search for their missing friend during this gentle boat ride through Mexico.
It rarely has a long wait, it’s air-conditioned, and it’s become one of those attractions we almost always ride whenever we’re in EPCOT.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
One of the newest additions to EPCOT also features one of Disney’s most entertaining casts of characters.
Rocket, Groot, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, and the rest of the Guardians are woven throughout the pre-show and storyline before you blast off on one of the best roller coasters I’ve ever ridden.
Even if thrill rides aren’t normally your thing, I’d encourage you to give this one a chance. It’s become one of my favorite attractions in all of Walt Disney World.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Shrink down to the size of a rat as Remy leads you through Gusteau’s restaurant in this family-friendly adventure inside the France Pavilion.
Along the way, you’ll encounter Remy, Linguini, Chef Skinner, and plenty of culinary chaos.
After riding, don’t forget that you’re already standing in one of the prettiest areas of World Showcase—and just steps away from where Belle and Aurora often greet guests.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana
Journey of Water isn’t a traditional character attraction, but Moana’s presence is felt throughout the experience.
As you explore the interactive water trail, you’ll discover references to her story before having the opportunity to meet Moana herself nearby.
I love pairing these two experiences together because they flow so naturally from one to the next.

Turtle Talk with Crush
This is one of those attractions that’s easy to underestimate until you’ve experienced it.
Instead of simply watching a show, guests actually have live conversations with Crush from Finding Nemo. Kids can ask questions, and Crush responds in real time with plenty of laughs along the way.
Even as an adult, I still find myself smiling through the entire experience.

Character meet-and-greets aren’t the only entertainment at EPCOT. Be sure to check out my guide to the best shows at EPCOT to see everything from live music and stage performances to interactive experiences throughout the park.
The Seas with Nemo & Friends
This gentle omnimover attraction follows Nemo, Dory, Marlin, Bruce, and several other familiar friends as they make their way through the underwater world.
One of the things I love most is how the animated characters blend seamlessly with the real aquarium at the end of the ride.
It’s one of those classic EPCOT attractions that never seems to lose its charm.
Special and Seasonal Character Appearances
One of the reasons I never tell people they’ve “seen everything” at EPCOT is because the character lineup isn’t always the same.
Disney loves surprising guests with special appearances during holidays, festivals, and seasonal celebrations.
One of the coolest examples happens around Valentine’s Day, when Disney has occasionally paired princesses with their princes for meet-and-greets. Seeing couples together is surprisingly rare at Walt Disney World, which makes these appearances feel even more special if your visit happens to line up.
During the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, you’ll also find Santa Claus and holiday storytellers representing traditions from countries around World Showcase. While they aren’t traditional Disney characters, they’re a wonderful part of what makes EPCOT feel so unique during the Christmas season.
The exact lineup changes from year to year, which is honestly part of the fun. If you’re visiting during a holiday or one of EPCOT’s festivals, don’t be surprised if Disney adds a few magical extras that weren’t there on your last trip.

Tips for Meeting Characters at EPCOT
After quite a few visits, I’ve picked up a few tricks that have made character hunting at EPCOT much easier.
Check the My Disney Experience app before you start walking. Character schedules change throughout the day, and it’s much easier to plan your route than to arrive five minutes after someone has left.
Don’t rush through World Showcase. Some of our favorite character memories happened because we were simply exploring instead of hurrying to the next attraction.
Meet characters as you make your way around the park. Instead of zig-zagging back and forth across World Showcase, let the characters fit naturally into your day. It’s less stressful and usually means less walking.
Take advantage of the beautiful backgrounds. Some of my favorite Disney character photos have been taken in EPCOT simply because each pavilion provides such an incredible setting.
Be flexible. EPCOT is probably the park where unexpected character encounters happen most often. Sometimes the best memory from the day is the one you never planned for.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which park has more characters: EPCOT or Magic Kingdom?
Magic Kingdom has more characters overall and offers the largest number of dedicated meet-and-greets.
EPCOT, however, is one of the best parks for meeting international Disney characters, princesses, and enjoying more relaxed interactions throughout World Showcase.
Can you meet Disney princesses at EPCOT?
Absolutely! Between Akershus Royal Banquet Hall and meet-and-greets throughout World Showcase, EPCOT is one of the best places to meet Disney princesses.
Does EPCOT have Marvel characters?
Yes! Star-Lord frequently greets guests near Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, making EPCOT one of the few places at Walt Disney World where you can meet a Marvel character.
Where should I start if characters are my priority?
I’d begin in World Celebration before working your way around World Showcase.
That route naturally lets you meet several classic Disney characters before discovering many of the princesses and international characters as you circle the lagoon.
Final Thoughts
When people think about Disney characters, Magic Kingdom usually gets all the attention.
But honestly, EPCOT has become one of my favorite parks for character interactions.
There’s just something different about meeting Mulan in China, Jasmine in Morocco, or Mary Poppins in the United Kingdom instead of standing in another generic queue. The surroundings make each interaction feel like it belongs there, and the slower pace of World Showcase encourages you to enjoy the moment instead of racing to the next attraction.
If your goal is to collect as many autographs as possible, Magic Kingdom is still the clear winner.
But if you’re looking for beautiful photo locations, unique international settings, and the occasional surprise character around the next corner, I wouldn’t skip EPCOT. Some of the most memorable Disney character moments happen here when you least expect them.
