Most of the time, a national park hotel is just a place to sleep. You leave early, spend all day exploring, come back exhausted, shower, and repeat the process the next day.
This hotel was different.
For once, we actually wanted to spend time at the hotel.
And after several days of hiking, driving, sightseeing, and baking in the Utah sun, that turned out to be a pretty big deal.

Why We Chose This Hotel
Like a lot of people planning a Utah Mighty Five road trip, I spent way too much time researching hotels.
Moab has a surprising number of lodging options.
There are budget motels, vacation rentals, campgrounds, boutique hotels, resorts, and plenty of chain hotels.
For this trip, I wanted something reliable.
When we’re visiting a national park, I don’t necessarily need luxury. What I want is a clean room, a comfortable bed, a decent breakfast, and a location that makes exploring easier.
The SpringHill Suites checked all those boxes.
Then I noticed the pool photos.
The pool looked impressive online, but let’s be honest: hotel websites have a magical ability to make even mediocre pools look amazing.
I figured it would probably be nice.
I did not realize it would become one of the highlights of our stay.
During our Utah Mighty Five road trip, we used Moab as our base for exploring both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
First Impressions
The first thing that caught my attention wasn’t actually the hotel.
It was the cliffs behind it.
Moab has this habit of making buildings feel tiny.
You pull into the parking lot, and towering red rock formations immediately steal the show.
The hotel itself is attractive enough. It feels newer, clean, and well maintained.
But what really makes the property stand out is the setting.
Even from the parking lot, you’re surrounded by the kind of scenery people fly across the country to see.
The location is excellent too.
You’re only a few minutes from the entrance to Arches National Park, which became one of my favorite things about staying here.
When you’re trying to get an early start before the crowds and heat arrive, every minute helps.
If you’re visiting Moab with kids, the SpringHill Suites Moab is one of the easiest hotel recommendations I can make. Between the resort-style pool, spacious rooms, and convenient location near Arches National Park, it quickly became one of our family’s favorite hotels on our Utah Mighty Five road trip.
The Pool Everyone Talks About
Let’s talk about the real star of this hotel.
The pool.
Actually, calling it “the pool” feels misleading.
This is more of a pool complex.
The first time we walked outside and saw it in person, I remember thinking, “Okay, this is way bigger than I expected.”
There are multiple pools, waterfalls, splash pad water features.
The pool area has slides and hot tubs.
There are plenty of lounge chairs and seating areas.
And all of it sits against a backdrop of dramatic red rock cliffs.
It’s genuinely beautiful.
The thing about Moab is that it’s hot.
Really hot.
Even when you know it’s going to be hot, somehow it still feels hotter.
After spending a day walking around Arches National Park, standing at overlooks, exploring viewpoints, and climbing around on slickrock, there is something incredibly satisfying about jumping into a pool.
Every afternoon seemed to follow the same pattern.
We’d spend the day exploring.
We’d come back tired, dusty, sweaty, and sunburn-prevention obsessed.
Then we’d head straight for the pool.
My daughter could have spent hours there every day.
Honestly, a lot of adults looked just as happy.
I watched plenty of parents relaxing in lounge chairs while kids bounced between the pools and water features.
For families, this place is gold.
After a day exploring the best easy viewpoints, scenic drives, and short walks in Arches National Park, we loved returning to the SpringHill Suites Moab to cool off in the pool and relax before dinner.
Why the Pool Works So Well
I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels with pools.
Most hotel pools are an afterthought.
This one feels intentional.
It feels like somebody actually asked, “What would people want after spending a day hiking through the desert?”
The answer was apparently multiple pools and waterfalls.
Good call.
What I especially liked was that there was enough space for everyone.
Nobody felt crammed together.
Even during busy times, the pool area felt surprisingly spacious.
The views don’t hurt either.
It’s not every day you can float in a pool while staring at giant red rock cliffs.
The Rooms
Here’s the funny thing.
The room itself wasn’t why I loved this hotel.
And that’s actually a compliment.
The room did exactly what it was supposed to do.
It gave us a comfortable place to relax and sleep after long days of exploring.
The suite layout was especially helpful.
Having both a sleeping area and a sitting area made the room feel larger than a standard hotel room.
The couch gave us somewhere to spread out.
The desk area was useful.
The room felt modern without feeling trendy.
Everything was clean.
Everything worked.
Sometimes that’s all you need.
The Bathroom
One thing I appreciated was the amount of counter space in the bathroom.
This may be one of the most middle-aged traveler comments I’ve ever made, but it’s true.
When multiple people are trying to get ready before sunrise in a national park, counter space becomes surprisingly important.
The bathroom was bright, clean, and practical.
Nothing fancy.
Just functional.
And honestly, practical wins a lot of points with me these days.
The SpringHill Suites Moab makes an excellent base for visiting Canyonlands National Park. We found it easy to spend a morning exploring Island in the Sky and still have plenty of time to enjoy the hotel’s impressive pool complex in the afternoon.
Free Breakfast: A Bigger Deal Than You Think
I know free hotel breakfast isn’t exactly exciting travel content.
But when you’re road-tripping through multiple national parks, it matters.
Breakfast in tourist towns adds up quickly.
Especially if you’re feeding a family.
The breakfast here was better than average.
There were hot options, bagels, toast, oatmeal, fruit, muffins, coffee, and plenty of other basics.
I actually liked the oatmeal station.
There were enough toppings available that it felt a little more interesting than the standard hotel breakfast setup.
Was this a breakfast worth planning your morning around?
No.
Was it nice to grab food, coffee, and head toward Arches without spending another $50 or $60?
Absolutely.
While staying at the SpringHill Suites Moab, we found plenty of excellent restaurants nearby. Here are our favorite places to eat during a Utah Mighty Five road trip.
The Outdoor Spaces
One thing I wasn’t expecting was how much outdoor seating the property offers.
There are covered patios, gathering spaces, lounge areas, and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the scenery.
Normally I don’t spend much time hanging around a hotel.
Here, I found myself slowing down a little.
Maybe it was the scenery.
Maybe it was vacation mode finally kicking in.
Whatever the reason, the outdoor spaces felt inviting.
Fitness Center
The fitness center was larger than I expected.
It had multiple cardio machines, strength equipment, free weights, and enough space to actually work out comfortably.
Did I use it?
No.
I was averaging miles of walking through Arches and Canyonlands every day.
But if you like keeping up your workout routine while traveling, the facility is quite good.
If you’re following this 1–2 day Arches National Park itinerary, the SpringHill Suites Moab is one of the most convenient places to stay thanks to its location just minutes from the park entrance.
Who Should Stay Here?
Families
This is probably the easiest recommendation I’ve made in a while.
If you’re traveling with kids, the pool alone makes this property worth considering.
Casual National Park Travelers
These are my people.
Travelers who love beautiful scenery but also enjoy air conditioning, comfortable beds, and hot showers.
If you’re visiting Arches without any desire to backpack into the wilderness for three days, you’ll probably love this hotel.
Retirees
The location, comfort level, breakfast, and easy access to attractions make this a strong option for older travelers.
Utah Mighty Five Road Trippers
If you’re doing the classic Utah Mighty Five route, this is one of the better lodging options in Moab.
Pro Tips
Stay At Least Three Nights
Moab deserves more time than many people give it.
Between Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point, and the town itself, it’s easy to fill several days.
Request a Pool View Room
The views over the pool and toward the surrounding cliffs are worth it.
Visit Arches Early
Use the hotel’s location to your advantage.
Getting into Arches before the crowds arrive makes a huge difference.
Schedule Pool Time
Seriously.
Don’t make the mistake of treating the pool as a backup activity.
It’s one of the best features of the property.

But if you’re looking for a comfortable, reliable hotel near Arches National Park that makes family travel easier, this place gets a lot right.
The location is excellent.
The rooms are comfortable.
The breakfast is convenient.
And the pool is genuinely memorable.
Years from now, I’ll remember Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch, Mesa Arch, and all the incredible scenery around Moab.
My daughter will probably remember the waterfalls and slides at the hotel pool.
And honestly?
