Hampton Inn & Suites Springdale Zion Review: The Perfect Base for Zion National Park

If you’re planning a trip to Zion National Park and want a hotel that’s comfortable, convenient, and doesn’t require a second mortgage, the Hampton Inn & Suites Springdale/Zion deserves a serious look.
After spending several days exploring Zion as part of our Utah Mighty Five road trip, this hotel ended up being one of those places that simply made the trip easier. Not more luxurious. Not more adventurous. Just easier.
And honestly, that’s often exactly what I want after a day of hiking, shuttle riding, crowds, and desert heat.
The location is fantastic. The views are incredible. The rooms are spacious. The included breakfast saves both time and money. And perhaps most importantly, it’s located at Springdale Shuttle Stop #6, which turned out to be one of the most underrated advantages of the entire stay.
For families, couples, retirees, and casual national park travelers who want to experience Zion without camping or roughing it, this hotel checks a lot of boxes.

In fact, if I returned to Zion tomorrow, this would probably be my first choice again.
What Makes This Hotel Special?
There are a lot of hotels in Springdale.
Some are more luxurious and some are more boutique.
Clearly, some are closer to the park entrance.
But very few combine convenience, value, comfort, and location as well as the Hampton Inn.
The biggest surprise for me was how much time we saved simply because everything was easy.
We could walk to dinner, grab breakfast downstairs, and catch the shuttle right outside the hotel.
There was zero parking stress.
We never had to fight Zion traffic.
And we never had to wonder where we’d eat after a long day.
When you’re visiting one of the busiest national parks in America, that kind of convenience matters.
This is the exact hotel I would recommend for following my Zion National Park 1 Day Itinerary, thanks to its central location, comfortable rooms, and easy shuttle access.
The Location Is Almost Perfect
Let’s start with the biggest selling point.
The location is outstanding.
The Hampton Inn sits right in the heart of Springdale, surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, outfitters, gift stores, and scenic red rock views in every direction.
One thing I quickly learned during our Zion trip is that Springdale itself is part of the experience.
Everywhere you look there are towering sandstone cliffs glowing orange and red.
Even walking to dinner feels scenic.
The hotel places you close enough to everything that you can leave your car parked for much of your stay.
After driving thousands of miles around Utah’s Mighty Five parks, I appreciated that more than I expected.
Sometimes it’s nice to stop driving and simply enjoy where you are.
Why Shuttle Stop #6 Is a Bigger Deal Than It Sounds
This was probably my favorite feature.
The hotel sits at Springdale Shuttle Stop #6.
At first glance that doesn’t sound particularly exciting.
But once you understand how Zion transportation works, it becomes a major advantage.
Most visitors use the free Springdale Shuttle to reach the pedestrian entrance of Zion National Park.
The shuttle begins farther down town and works its way toward the park entrance.
Because Hampton Inn is located at Stop #6, you’re boarding relatively early in the route.
That means:
- Better chance of finding seats
- Less standing room only
- Faster boarding experience
- Less stress during busy periods
Anyone who has visited Zion during spring break, summer, or fall knows shuttle lines can become substantial.
Being able to board before many other passengers is a surprisingly nice perk.
The shuttle stop is literally right outside the hotel, making the entire process incredibly simple.
Wake up. Eat breakfast. Walk outside. Get on the shuttle.
Start your Zion day.
That’s hard to beat.

The Views Are Incredible
One thing that doesn’t fully come across on hotel booking websites is just how spectacular the setting is.
The views from this property are stunning.
The towering cliffs surrounding Springdale seem to rise directly behind the hotel.
At sunrise and sunset, the sandstone walls glow with deep shades of orange, red, and gold.
One evening I found myself standing outside longer than expected simply watching the changing colors on the cliffs.
The photos are beautiful.
The reality is even better.
The view from the pool area is particularly impressive.
It’s not every day you can swim while looking up at massive Zion cliffs.
That alone makes this hotel memorable.

The Rooms
Our room was exactly what I hoped for.
Clean.
Comfortable.
Spacious.
Modern.
Nothing overly fancy, but everything worked well.
The room felt noticeably larger than many standard hotel rooms.
There was plenty of space for luggage, backpacks, camera gear, snacks, and all the random things that seem to accumulate during a national park road trip.
The bed was comfortable, which became increasingly important after long days exploring Zion.
One thing I’ve noticed after years of national park travel is that comfortable beds matter more than luxury amenities.
After hiking and sightseeing all day, I mostly want a good shower and a comfortable mattress.
This hotel delivered both.

The room also included several features that made longer stays easier:

These aren’t glamorous features, but they’re practical.
Families can store snacks.
Travelers can reheat leftovers.
Parents can organize the next day’s plans.
Everyone benefits from having a little extra space.
For a Zion basecamp, it worked extremely well.
The Bathroom
The bathroom was clean, functional, and nicely maintained.
It featured a shower/tub combination, plenty of towels, and enough counter space for toiletries.
Again, nothing revolutionary.
But everything felt fresh and well cared for.
That’s ultimately what most travelers want.
Especially after spending time in dusty desert conditions.

The Complimentary Breakfast
Let’s talk about breakfast.
Because breakfast in Springdale can get expensive quickly.
One of the reasons I often choose Hampton Inns during road trips is consistency.
You generally know what you’re getting.
This property includes a complimentary hot breakfast each morning.
Options vary slightly by day, but generally include:

- Breakfast meats
- Waffles
- Oatmeal
- Yogurt
- Fruit
- Pastries
- Cereal
- Juice
- Coffee
Is it a gourmet dining experience?
No.
But that’s not the point.
The point is that it saves both time and money.
For a family of four spending several days in Zion, complimentary breakfast can easily save $50-$75 per day.
Over multiple days, that becomes real money.
Even better, it gets everyone fed and out the door quickly so you can maximize park time.

The pool deserves its own section.
Because this isn’t just a standard hotel pool.
The setting makes it special.
The pool is surrounded by comfortable seating areas and framed by towering red rock cliffs.
After a warm afternoon in Zion, it becomes one of the nicest places on the property.
I can easily imagine families spending an hour or two here in the afternoon before heading out for dinner.
For retirees, it’s a relaxing place to unwind.
For couples, it’s surprisingly scenic.
Honestly, even if you never get into the water, the pool deck is worth visiting simply for the views.
Fitness Center and Amenities
The hotel also includes:

While most visitors won’t spend much time using hotel amenities during a Zion trip, it’s nice having them available.
The fitness center appeared clean and well maintained.
The small market was particularly useful for grabbing drinks, snacks, or forgotten essentials.

One of the best parts of staying here is that you can walk to many Springdale restaurants.
After spending all day in Zion, I really appreciated not having to get back into the car.
That’s especially true during busy travel periods when parking throughout town can become more challenging.
Having restaurants, ice cream shops, coffee shops, and stores within walking distance made evenings far more relaxing.

Who Should Stay Here?
Families
This is probably one of the easiest family-friendly hotels in Springdale.
The pool, breakfast, spacious rooms, and shuttle access all make family travel easier.
Retirees
If you want comfort without luxury pricing, this is a strong option.
Minimal walking, excellent shuttle access, and comfortable accommodations make it a great base.
First-Time Zion Visitors
Honestly, this might be the ideal first-timer hotel.
Everything about staying here simplifies the Zion experience.
Casual National Park Travelers
