Crystal Palace Breakfast at Disney World: Our Honest Review
Thinking about booking Crystal Palace breakfast at Disney World? Here’s my honest review of the buffet, Mickey churro waffles, character interactions, and why a 10 a.m. reservation is the perfect Magic Kingdom strategy.

After eating dinner at Crystal Palace on a previous trip, I wasn’t sure breakfast was going to feel all that different.
Turns out, I actually liked breakfast even more.
If I had to choose between the two, I’d probably book breakfast every single time.
Part of that is expectations. When you go to a breakfast buffet, you’re not expecting a life-changing meal. You just want good food, plenty of variety, and enough options that everyone in your group can find something they’ll enjoy. Crystal Palace absolutely delivers on all three.
Of course, the famous Mickey churro waffles deserve the attention they get. They’re crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, coated in cinnamon sugar, and honestly just plain delicious. I completely understand why they’re one of the signature breakfast items at Disney World.
But what surprised me most was everything else on the buffet.
There was an impressive selection of fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, pastries, cereal, biscuits, pancakes, and plenty of other hot breakfast options. Whether you’re looking for a lighter breakfast or you’re ready to load up your plate before a full day in Magic Kingdom, there’s enough variety that it’s hard to leave hungry.
How breakfast fit into our magic kingdom day
One thing I really liked was how well breakfast fit into our touring plan.
Instead of grabbing one of the first reservations of the morning, we took advantage of Early Entry, rode several attractions while the lines were still short, and then checked in for a 10:00 a.m. breakfast reservation. By then we’d already spent a couple of hours walking around the park, so sitting down in the air conditioning with a big breakfast felt like the perfect break before jumping back into rides for the rest of the day.
Honestly, I think that’s the sweet spot. You still get the benefit of rope drop crowds, but you don’t have to survive until lunch on a granola bar.
The character interactions were just as much fun as I remembered from dinner. Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet all made their way around the dining room to visit our table. The one change since our previous visit is that Winnie the Pooh no longer walks from table to table. Instead, he has his own dedicated spot where guests can line up for hugs and photos.
I actually didn’t mind that change at all. You still get plenty of interaction, and since my nickname for my husband is “Honey Bear” (thanks to Winnie the Pooh), I can’t resist stopping for a picture with Pooh whenever I’m here.
Overall, I’d give Crystal Palace Breakfast 4 out of 5 for food and 4 out of 5 for ambiance and character interactions. It isn’t my favorite breakfast on Disney property—that honor still goes to Tusker House—but it’s one I’d happily book again, especially if you’re looking for a relaxing mid-morning break in Magic Kingdom.

The Breakfast Buffet at Crystal Palace
One of the biggest surprises for me was just how extensive the breakfast buffet is.
Sure, everyone talks about the Mickey churro waffles—and yes, they’re absolutely worth grabbing—but that’s honestly just one small part of what’s available.
Mickey Churro Waffles (Don’t Skip These)
If you’ve spent any time researching Crystal Palace breakfast, you’ve probably already heard about the Mickey churro waffles.
They are totally worth the hype.
Basically Mickey-shaped waffles coated in cinnamon sugar, so they’re crispy around the edges, soft in the middle, and taste exactly like you’d imagine a fresh churro and a waffle would if they had a baby.
They’re sweet enough to eat on their own, but you can also dip them in syrup if you really want to lean into dessert-for-breakfast territory.
I’d absolutely grab these first before they disappear from the buffet.
Plenty of Protein (Which I Always Appreciate)
As someone who usually tries to eat a higher-protein breakfast, I was happy to see there were plenty of savory options, too.
The buffet included:
- Scrambled eggs
- Bacon
- Breakfast sausage
- Breakfast potatoes
- Biscuits and gravy
- Cheesy potato casserole
- Fried chicken
- Mickey waffles
- Pancakes
The fried chicken especially caught me by surprise. Chicken and waffles is always a good combination, and Disney clearly knows it.
Nothing here felt particularly fancy, but that’s honestly kind of the point. It was just a really solid breakfast buffet where almost everything was well prepared and constantly being refreshed.
Fresh Fruit & Lighter Options
One thing Disney buffet restaurants usually do well is fresh fruit, and Crystal Palace was no exception.
There were bowls of fresh strawberries along with watermelon, cantaloupe, and other seasonal fruit that actually looked fresh instead of like it had been sitting out forever.
If you’re trying to balance out a few Mickey churro waffles (or convince yourself you’re making healthy choices), it’s nice to have those options available.
There was also yogurt, cereal, and granola if you’re looking for something a little lighter.
Save Room for the Pastries
I almost skipped the pastry section because I was already pretty full.
I’m glad I didn’t.
There were cinnamon rolls, fruit pastries, danishes, muffins, sticky buns, and several other baked treats that looked fresh rather than mass-produced. Disney’s bakery team generally does a nice job with breakfast pastries, and Crystal Palace was no exception.
Could I eat one of everything?
Absolutely.
Should I?
Probably not.
Character Interactions
One thing I really enjoy about Crystal Palace is that the character interactions never feel rushed.
During breakfast, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore all made their way around the dining room to visit every table. They spent enough time signing autographs, posing for pictures, and interacting with guests without making the meal feel like one long photo line.
The only change from our previous dinner visit was Winnie the Pooh.
Instead of walking from table to table, Pooh now stays in a designated area where guests can line up after (or during) their meal for photos.
Honestly, I thought it worked well.
You still get your hug, your pictures, and your time with Pooh—it just keeps the dining room flowing a little more smoothly.
And, of course, I couldn’t resist getting my annual picture with him. Since my nickname for my husband has always been “Honey Bear” because of Winnie the Pooh, that’s become a little tradition whenever I eat here.
Service & Overall Experience
For a restaurant that’s almost always busy, the service was excellent.
Our drinks stayed full, empty plates disappeared quickly, and the buffet was constantly being restocked. Even when certain items were running low, Cast Members were bringing out fresh trays within just a few minutes.
The dining room itself is definitely lively, so if you’re looking for a quiet breakfast, this probably isn’t it. Between families, excited kids, and characters making their rounds, there’s a lot happening.
But that’s also part of what makes Crystal Palace fun.
It’s bright, cheerful, full of natural light, and has a completely different atmosphere than most other restaurants in Magic Kingdom.
Is Crystal Palace Breakfast Worth It?
For me, absolutely.
I actually enjoyed breakfast more than dinner, mostly because I thought the buffet offered excellent variety without trying to be something it isn’t. This isn’t a fancy brunch. It’s a classic Disney breakfast buffet done really well.
I also think the timing makes a huge difference.
If you can rope drop Magic Kingdom, knock out several attractions during those first couple of hours, and then sit down for a late breakfast around 10:00 a.m., I think you’ve found one of the best ways to structure your morning.
I’d recommend Crystal Palace Breakfast if you’re:
- Looking for the only character dining experience with Winnie the Pooh and friends
- Visiting Magic Kingdom with first-time visitors
- Wanting a hearty breakfast before spending the rest of the day in the park
- Trying to fit a relaxing break into your touring plan without sacrificing those valuable early morning ride times
Would I book it again?
Without hesitation. In fact, if I ever have to choose between breakfast and dinner at Crystal Palace in the future, breakfast is the reservation I’ll be making.
Reservations & Availability
Crystal Palace is one of the more popular character dining experiences in Magic Kingdom, so I’d definitely recommend making an Advance Dining Reservation if you know you want to eat here.
Breakfast reservations are usually a little easier to find than Cinderella’s Royal Table or Chef Mickey’s, but they can still disappear quickly during holidays and other busy travel seasons.
If you’re flexible, I’ve had good luck finding reservations by checking the My Disney Experience app in the days leading up to our trip. Disney guests change their plans all the time, so cancellations happen more often than you might think.
If you’re hoping to copy our strategy, I’d look for a reservation somewhere between 9:45 and 10:30 a.m.
That gives you plenty of time to take advantage of Early Entry and rope drop before sitting down for a relaxing breakfast. It honestly felt like the perfect way to break up the morning instead of eating first thing and then heading into the crowds.
Walk-up availability does occasionally pop up, but I wouldn’t count on it if Crystal Palace is high on your priority list.
Is Crystal Palace Breakfast Kid-Friendly?
Absolutely.
Between the Winnie the Pooh characters, Mickey-shaped waffles, pastries, fruit, pancakes, cereal, and plenty of familiar breakfast foods, it’s hard to imagine many kids leaving hungry.
Even picky eaters should be able to build a plate they’re happy with.
The character interactions are also relaxed compared to some of the busier character meals around Walt Disney World. Since the characters come to you (with the exception of Pooh’s dedicated meet-and-greet area), there’s less running around and less stress trying to squeeze in photos.
Of course, adults can enjoy Crystal Palace just as much.
I probably had just as much fun seeing Tigger and Eeyore as most of the kids in the restaurant.
And if you’re a Winnie the Pooh fan, this is really in a category by itself. It’s the only character dining experience at Walt Disney World where you can meet Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore together.
Location & Convenience
Crystal Palace sits right at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., overlooking Cinderella Castle and the hub.
You really can’t ask for a more convenient location.
Whether you’re heading toward Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, or Fantasyland after breakfast, you’re only a few minutes away from your next attraction.
You’ll need a valid Magic Kingdom park ticket to dine here since the restaurant is located inside the park.
Final Verdict
Crystal Palace breakfast ended up being one of my favorite surprises at Disney World.
I expected a decent breakfast buffet with fun characters. Instead, I found one of the better breakfast values on Disney property, thanks to the huge variety of food, excellent character interactions, and a touring strategy that fit perfectly into our Magic Kingdom day.
Would I choose it over Tusker House breakfast?
No. Tusker House is still my favorite breakfast buffet at Walt Disney World.
But if I’m spending the day in Magic Kingdom, Crystal Palace is the breakfast reservation I’d make every single time.
My Biggest Tip
Don’t schedule breakfast first thing in the morning.
Instead, rope drop Magic Kingdom, enjoy those wonderfully short morning wait times, and then book Crystal Palace for around 10:00 a.m. You’ll get the best of both worlds—a productive morning in the park followed by a huge breakfast that gives you a chance to recharge before tackling the rest of your day.
