Cheshire Café Review: Is the Cheshire Cat Tail Worth a Stop?

Cheshire Café review

Wondering if Cheshire Café is worth a stop? Read my honest review of the Cheshire Cat Tail, plus tips on nearby seating, PhotoPass, Mirabel, and one of my favorite castle photo spots.

I think Cheshire Café gets overshadowed a little.

And honestly… I understand why.

If you’re standing in this part of Fantasyland, you’ve got Storybook Treats just a short walk away. Keep going a little farther and you’ll find Sleepy Hollow. Head the other direction and you’re not that far from Tomorrowland.

There’s a lot of competition.

But Cheshire Café still has one thing going for it.

The Cheshire Cat Tail.

It’s colorful, it’s fun, it’s unmistakably Disney, and it’s one of those snacks that’s been around long enough to become a Magic Kingdom classic.

Would I build my day around it?

No.

Would I grab one if I was already walking by?

Absolutely.

Where Is Cheshire Café?

Cheshire Café is tucked into Fantasyland right next to Mad Tea Party.

It’s a tiny little snack stand, so if you aren’t paying attention, it’s easy to walk right past it.

But one of the things I really like about this location has very little to do with the food.

First, it’s right around the corner from one of the less-busy restroom locations in Magic Kingdom. I wouldn’t exactly call it a hidden restroom, but it definitely doesn’t seem to get as much traffic as some of the others around the park. If you know, you know.

It’s also directly across the walkway from Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. Since Cheshire Café doesn’t have much seating of its own, I love grabbing my Cheshire Cat Tail and taking it across the street to enjoy in the air conditioning. It’s a great excuse to sit down for a few minutes, cool off, and use the restrooms before heading back out into the park.

And here’s one more little tip.

Just beyond Cheshire Café is the bridge that connects Fantasyland back to the Castle Hub. Most guests naturally use the larger walkway between Tomorrowland and the Hub, so this bridge often feels a little less crowded.

It’s also one of my favorite places to stop for a picture of Cinderella Castle.

You’ll frequently find a Disney PhotoPass photographer stationed there, and they often offer fun Magic Shots. If you’re collecting PhotoPass pictures during your vacation, it’s definitely worth taking a minute to see if they’re there.

As an added bonus, Mirabel’s meet-and-greet is located right nearby, making this a convenient little stop if you have an Encanto fan in your group.

Honestly, this whole corner of Fantasyland is one of those areas that I think people rush through without realizing how much is packed into it.

If you’re already exploring Fantasyland, I’d also recommend Storybook Treats. The Rapunzel Sundae is one of my favorite desserts in Magic Kingdom and makes a great stop if you’re craving ice cream instead of a pastry.

What’s on the Menu?

The menu here is pretty small, and that’s perfectly okay.

People aren’t coming to Cheshire Café because it has twenty different desserts.

They’re coming for one thing.

The Cheshire Cat Tail.

Disney occasionally adds seasonal drinks or limited-time treats, so it’s always worth taking a quick look at the menu, but the pastry is definitely the star of the show.

What I Ordered

Cheshire Cat Tail ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

The first thing you’re going to notice is how cute it is.

It almost feels wrong to eat it.

Almost.

The Cheshire Cat Tail is a flaky pastry filled with chocolate and topped with bright pink and purple icing that makes it instantly recognizable.

It’s sweet without being over-the-top, and the pastry has a nice buttery, flaky texture that keeps it from feeling too heavy.

I ranked it as my #11 favorite snack in Magic Kingdom, which feels about right.

Do I like it?

Absolutely.

Do I love it as much as the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake from Aloha Isle or the Nutella Fruit Waffle from Sleepy Hollow?

No.

But that’s setting a really high bar.

If you’re already in Fantasyland, I think it’s a fun snack that’s well worth trying at least once.

What I’d Order Again

The Cheshire Cat Tail.

That’s honestly the reason to stop here.

It’s easy to carry, easy to share, and just one of those snacks that feels very Disney.

Is Cheshire Café Worth Stopping For?

I think the answer depends on where you are.

If you’re over in Adventureland…

Probably not.

But if you’re spending the morning in Fantasyland, riding Mad Tea Party, or making your way toward Tomorrowland, then yes—I think it’s worth a quick stop.

It’s not a destination snack.

It’s a really good “I’m already here” snack.

And sometimes those end up being the ones you remember.

Who Should Visit?

I’d recommend Cheshire Café if you:

  • Love chocolate-filled pastries.
  • Want a snack that’s fun without being huge.
  • Are already exploring Fantasyland.
  • Need a quick break before heading to your next attraction.
  • Want something that’s a little different from the standard cookies and cupcakes around the park.

Looking for something savory instead? Head over to the Adventureland Spring Roll Cart for the famous Cheeseburger Spring Rolls. They’re one of my favorite grab-and-go snacks if I’m not in the mood for dessert.

Final Thoughts

I don’t think Cheshire Café is trying to be the best snack location in Magic Kingdom.

It’s just trying to serve one really good pastry.

And honestly…

I think it succeeds.

If you’re nearby, grab a Cheshire Cat Tail, wander across to Cosmic Ray’s for a few minutes in the air conditioning, and enjoy one of the more relaxing snack breaks in Magic Kingdom.

If pastries are your thing, don’t miss Sleepy Hollow either. The Nutella Fruit Waffle is my #2 favorite snack in Magic Kingdom and one I recommend to just about everyone visiting the park.

Sometimes it’s the little moments like that—not necessarily the biggest or most famous snacks—that become part of your favorite Disney memories.
