I have to admit, this article was harder to write than I expected.
Normally, I don’t have much trouble ranking Disney restaurants. I know which ones I would recommend first, which ones I’d skip, and which ones I think are just okay.
Disney buffets? That’s a completely different story.
They’re all trying to do different things.
Biergarten isn’t trying to be Boma. Boma isn’t trying to be Crystal Palace. Tusker House isn’t trying to be Hollywood & Vine.
Some of these restaurants are all about the food. Some are really about the characters. Others are just plain fun because of the atmosphere and entertainment.
After staring at my notes for way too long, I realized there wasn’t any fair way to make one simple ranking.
So…I cheated.
Instead of giving you one list, I’m giving you two.
The first ranks the overall experience. This is the list I’d use if someone asked me, “Which buffet would you be most excited to go back to tomorrow?”
The second ignores the characters, entertainment, and atmosphere completely and focuses on one thing:
The buffet itself.
Because those are two very different questions, and my answers aren’t exactly the same.

One quick note: I’ve personally eaten at every buffet on this list—most of them multiple times. These rankings aren’t based on online reviews or popularity. They’re simply my honest opinions after years of eating my way around Walt Disney World.
My Favorite Disney World Buffet Experiences
Before we start, let me explain how I ranked this list.
This isn’t just about the food.
If it were, Boma would probably run away with first place.
Instead, I asked myself a different question.
When I think back on all the buffets I’ve eaten at Disney World, which ones make me smile the most?
Sometimes that’s because the food was incredible.
Sometimes it’s because of the live entertainment.
Sometimes it’s because one of the characters made us laugh halfway through dinner.
Those moments matter just as much as what’s sitting on the buffet line.
🥇 Biergarten Restaurant (EPCOT)
This one wasn’t even a hard decision.
If someone handed me a Disney vacation tomorrow and said I could only book one buffet, I’d pick Biergarten.
The food is excellent, but that’s honestly not why it ended up at the top of my list.
It’s because eating here feels like an event.
The restaurant is designed to look like a little German village celebrating Oktoberfest, and every so often the live band starts playing. Before long, people are clapping, kids are dancing, and somebody’s grandparents are usually having the time of their lives out on the dance floor.
It’s impossible not to smile.
My husband absolutely loves Biergarten, so it has become one of those restaurants that’s almost automatically part of our vacation planning. It doesn’t hurt that it’s usually included in EPCOT’s concert series dining packages, either. If we’re planning to see Garden Rocks, Eat to the Beat, or the Disney on Broadway concerts during Festival of the Arts, Biergarten is almost always on the short list.
There are buffets with more choices.
There are buffets with more unique food.
But I don’t think there’s another buffet at Disney World that leaves me happier when I walk out the door.
🥈 Boma – Flavors of Africa
If this article were only about food, we’d already be done.
Boma would be number one.
Honestly, I’ve been impressed every single time I’ve eaten here.
What I love about Boma is that it gives you the chance to try flavors you don’t normally see at Disney without ever feeling intimidating. If you’re adventurous, there’s plenty to explore. If you’re traveling with someone who just wants scrambled eggs or carved meats, they’re going to leave happy too.
That’s a hard balance to pull off.
The only reason Boma sits behind Biergarten on this particular list is because Biergarten feels more like an experience. The live music, the atmosphere, the whole Oktoberfest vibe—it just sticks with me a little longer after the meal is over.
But when we get to my food rankings later…
Well…let’s just say Boma has a very different finish.
🥉 1900 Park Fare
When Disney brought 1900 Park Fare back, I was really hoping it would still feel special.
It absolutely does.
The food is excellent, but the characters are what make this meal stand out.
Instead of the usual lineup you see at several Disney restaurants, you get a fun mix that includes Cinderella, Princess Tiana, Mirabel, and Aladdin. It feels fresh, and the interactions are some of my favorites anywhere on property.
Then you add in the setting inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and the whole meal just feels a little more elegant than your average character buffet.
Would I go here just for the food?
Probably.
Would I go here for the entire experience?
Absolutely.
That’s why it lands in my top three.
4. Tusker House Restaurant (Disney’s Animal Kingdom)
This one was honestly harder to place than I expected.
The food is really, really good. We’ll talk more about that when we get to my buffet food rankings, because it deserves to be near the top.
But this list isn’t just about the food.
It’s about the entire experience.
Tusker House has become one of my favorite character meals because it feels different from the others. Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy are all dressed in their safari outfits, which is just about as Animal Kingdom as it gets. It’s one of those little Disney details that makes the whole meal feel tied to the park instead of feeling like it could happen anywhere.
I also love that the buffet isn’t just another lineup of chicken fingers and mashed potatoes. Disney leans into African-inspired flavors while still keeping plenty of familiar options for less adventurous eaters.
For me, Tusker House hits that sweet spot between excellent food and memorable characters.
The only reason it doesn’t crack my top three is because Biergarten, Boma, and 1900 Park Fare have become traditions I look forward to every single trip.
5. Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom)
There are probably people reading this who think Crystal Palace should be much higher.
And honestly…I get it.
Eating inside the Magic Kingdom with Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore is about as classic as Disney gets.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, too. The giant glass atrium lets in so much natural light that it feels bright and cheerful no matter when you visit.
For me, though, Crystal Palace lands right in the middle of the pack.
I’ve always enjoyed eating here. The food is consistently good, the characters are fun, and the location couldn’t be much better if you’re spending the day in Magic Kingdom.
It just doesn’t quite have that extra “wow” factor that pushes it above the restaurants higher on my list.
That’s not really a criticism.
It’s more of a compliment to just how good Disney’s other buffets have become.
6. Cape May Café (Disney’s Beach Club Resort)
Cape May is one of Disney World’s most underrated breakfasts.
I don’t feel like it gets talked about nearly as much as Chef Mickey’s or 1900 Park Fare, but I honestly think it deserves more attention.
The buffet itself is excellent, and I really enjoy the relaxed beach-house atmosphere. It feels noticeably calmer than some of Disney’s busier character meals, which can be a nice change of pace if you’ve been rushing around the parks for a few days.
The character interactions are also surprisingly good.
Maybe it’s because the restaurant isn’t quite as hectic, but I’ve always felt like the characters had plenty of time to visit each table.
It’s probably not the first character breakfast I’d recommend to someone planning their very first Disney vacation.
But after you’ve been a few times?
Cape May becomes one of those hidden gems that’s absolutely worth working into your plans.
7. Hollywood & Vine (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
I almost feel bad putting Hollywood & Vine this low.
Because here’s the thing…
I’ve genuinely never had a bad meal here.
The buffet is solid, the characters are fun, and if you book the Fantasmic! Dining Package, it becomes an even better value because you’re getting reserved seating for one of Disney World’s best nighttime shows.
That’s a pretty great combination.
The problem isn’t Hollywood & Vine.
The problem is the competition.
When I’m comparing it to Biergarten, Boma, Tusker House, or 1900 Park Fare, it just doesn’t leave quite the same lasting impression.
Would I happily eat here again?
Absolutely.
In fact, I probably will.
I just happen to like several of Disney’s other buffets even more.
8. Chef Mickey’s (Disney’s Contemporary Resort)
I have to add one little disclaimer here.
I’ve only eaten breakfast at Chef Mickey’s.
So I’m not going to pretend I can fairly judge the dinner buffet.
That said, breakfast was exactly what I expected it to be.
The food was good.
The service was good.
Seeing Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald all in one meal is incredibly convenient, especially if you’re visiting Disney World for the first time or traveling with younger kids.
It’s one of those restaurants that’s almost become a Disney tradition in its own right.
For me personally, though, the experience just doesn’t have the same charm as some of the other buffets on this list.
That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t recommend it.
Quite the opposite.
If you’ve never been to Disney World before, Chef Mickey’s is still one of those iconic meals that’s worth experiencing at least once.
So…Does This Mean Chef Mickey’s Is Bad?
Not even close.
Honestly, I think this article says more about how good Disney’s buffet restaurants have become than it does about the ones near the bottom of my list.
I’ve enjoyed every single buffet on this page.
If you made me go back to any one of them tomorrow, I’d happily say yes.
The difference is that some have become traditions I actively plan my trips around, while others are restaurants I’m always glad I visited.
That’s a pretty high bar.
My Disney World Buffet Food Rankings
Now for the fun part.
If you’ve been paying attention, you probably noticed something while reading my experience rankings.
Boma finished second.
That’s about to change.
This time, I’m ignoring everything except the buffet itself.
No characters.
No live entertainment.
No beautiful restaurant theming.
No nostalgia.
If I walked in wearing a blindfold, took a plate from the buffet, and judged nothing but the food…which restaurants would come out on top?
Here’s how I’d rank them.
🥇 1. Boma – Flavors of Africa
This one wasn’t close.
If we’re talking strictly about the food, Boma is in a league of its own.
Honestly, I don’t even care whether we’re talking about breakfast or dinner because both are outstanding.
Breakfast somehow makes scrambled eggs and bacon feel exciting while also giving you the chance to try South African-inspired specialties like bobotie and pap. Dinner takes things even further with carved meats, incredible soups, curries, fresh salads, and desserts that somehow convince you to make room for one more plate.
What I appreciate most is that Boma never feels like it’s being adventurous just for the sake of being adventurous.
Everything belongs.
Everything tastes like somebody actually cared about making it.
Even people in my family who normally stick to familiar foods have left impressed.
If someone asked me where to find the best buffet food anywhere at Disney World, I wouldn’t hesitate.
I’d send them to Boma.
🥈 2. Biergarten Restaurant
The more often I eat at Biergarten, the more I appreciate the food.
Sure, there are the obvious German classics like schnitzel, bratwurst, sauerkraut, and potato salad.
But what surprises me is how consistently well everything is prepared.
Nothing feels like it has been sitting under a heat lamp for hours.
The carved meats are excellent, the desserts are delicious, and there are enough familiar options that even someone who isn’t particularly adventurous can still put together a really satisfying meal.
Could I eat here every single day?
Probably not.
Would I happily eat here every Disney vacation?
Absolutely.
🥉 3. 1900 Park Fare
I honestly wasn’t expecting to rank 1900 Park Fare this high.
Then I thought about every meal I’ve eaten there.
I’ve never walked away disappointed.
The buffet does a really nice job mixing classic breakfast and dinner favorites with a few creative dishes that make the meal feel a little more special than your average hotel buffet.
It doesn’t have quite the variety of Boma or the uniqueness of Biergarten.
But almost everything I tried was genuinely delicious.
Sometimes consistency deserves a little credit.
4. Tusker House Restaurant
Tusker House and Boma definitely feel like cousins.
You can tell they share some inspiration.
Tusker House leans into African flavors while still offering plenty of familiar Disney buffet favorites, and I think Disney does a really good job finding that balance.
Some people worry the menu will be “too adventurous.”
Honestly, I think it’s much more approachable than people expect.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you’ll have plenty to explore.
If you’re traveling with picky eaters, they’ll still find more than enough to enjoy.
The only reason it finishes behind Boma is that Boma simply has more variety and, in my opinion, executes those flavors just a little better.
5. Cape May Café
Cape May might have the simplest buffet on this list.
I don’t mean that as a criticism.
Sometimes simple is exactly what I want.
The breakfast buffet is full of fresh fruit, Mickey waffles, eggs, bacon, pastries, and all the classic breakfast foods you’d expect.
Nothing is trying to reinvent breakfast.
It’s just really well done.
I also think the quality is consistently better than many people give it credit for.
If you’re looking for a relaxed breakfast with excellent food, Cape May deserves a lot more attention than it gets.
6. Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace is one of those restaurants where I’ve always enjoyed the food.
I’ve just never left talking about the food.
The buffet is full of familiar American favorites, everything is fresh, and there’s enough variety that everyone in your family should be able to find something they like.
It’s exactly what I expect from a Magic Kingdom buffet.
Reliable.
Comforting.
Consistently good.
It simply doesn’t have quite as many standout dishes as the restaurants higher on my list.
7. Chef Mickey’s
Again, my ranking here is based only on breakfast because that’s the meal I’ve personally experienced.
There wasn’t anything wrong with it.
In fact, I’d happily eat there again.
The breakfast buffet has all the Disney staples you’d expect, and everything was fresh and well prepared.
The challenge is that Disney has raised the bar in so many of its other buffets.
When I compare Chef Mickey’s breakfast to Boma, Cape May, or even 1900 Park Fare, it just doesn’t stand out quite as much.
8. Hollywood & Vine
Poor Hollywood & Vine.
I almost feel guilty putting it here.
Because here’s the funny part…
I’ve honestly never had a bad meal at Hollywood & Vine.
Every time I’ve eaten there, the buffet has been fresh, the service has been good, and I’ve left happy.
The only reason it finishes last is because I’m comparing it against some truly outstanding buffets.
Somebody has to be eighth.
For me, that’s Hollywood & Vine.
That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t recommend it.
It just means the rest of Disney’s buffet lineup is surprisingly strong.
Does “Last Place” Mean You Should Skip It?
Definitely not.
One thing I hope this article makes clear is that Disney World doesn’t really have a bad buffet.
Some are more memorable than others.
Some have better food.
Some have better entertainment.
Some have better characters.
But every buffet on this list is somewhere I’d happily eat again.
At the end of the day, the “best” Disney buffet isn’t always the one with the best food.
It’s the one that’s going to make your vacation a little more memorable.
Final Thoughts: Which Disney World Buffet Should You Choose?
If you’ve made it this far, you’ve probably figured out there’s no such thing as one “perfect” Disney buffet.
And honestly?
I think that’s a good thing.
If you want incredible food, I’m sending you to Boma.
If you want the most entertaining meal at Disney World, book Biergarten.
If you’re looking for a memorable character dining experience, 1900 Park Fare and Tusker House are both fantastic choices.
And if eating breakfast with Winnie the Pooh inside Magic Kingdom has always been on your Disney bucket list, Crystal Palace is hard to beat.
The nice thing is that you really can’t make a bad choice.
I’ve personally eaten at every buffet on this list, and while I definitely have my favorites, I’ve never walked away thinking I’d wasted my money.
Instead, I’d think about what kind of vacation you’re planning.

For most families, I think they are.
You’re paying for more than unlimited food.

If you’re looking for the absolute cheapest meal at Disney World, a buffet probably isn’t the answer.
But if you’re planning one or two memorable dining experiences during your trip, I think they’re well worth considering.
