The Rockwell Inn Review: Our Jackson, WY Hotel for Grand Teton

If you’re planning a family trip to Grand Teton National Park and looking for a Jackson Hole hotel that’s warm and comfortable yet in the center of it all, The Rockwell Inn (formerly The Lexington) is a great pick.

It’s close enough to Town Square that you can walk to restaurants and shops, but far enough off the beaten path that you feel like you’re at a quiet retreat after a day of exploring in the parks.

We recently stayed at The Rockwell on our last visit to Grand Teton, and it was a hit with everyone in our family. Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfy beds, and a great hot tub to soak in after a long day of hiking. It’s not trying to be hip. Just modern and service-focused on what travelers really need.

Location: A Short Walk to Jackson’s Best

When it comes to location, this is a top-rated hotel in Jackson, WY because it has it all. The Rockwell Inn is just off the main road and around 2 blocks from Jackson’s downtown Town Square. This puts you steps from coffee shops, restaurants, galleries, and all the best Jackson has to offer without any of the parking headaches that come with staying downtown.

It’s also a short walk to the Jackson Country Square Shopping Center if you need last-minute supplies before hitting the road for your Grand Teton or Yellowstone adventures.

In the evenings, you can stroll over to the square to see the nightly cowboy shootout show or grab ice cream under the famous elk antler arches, another Jackson icon you don’t want to miss the first time you visit.

For day trips, the drive to Grand Teton National Park is just 15–20 minutes, and the south entrance to Yellowstone is just a little further north. The drive is short and scenic either way. Whether you’re here for sightseeing, wildlife viewing, or a little small-town nostalgia, the location is hard to beat.

Guest Rooms: Clean, Cozy, and Just Spacious Enough

Let’s be honest.. After a day spent chasing bison, hiking around lakes, and wrangling kids through the Grand Teton National Park, you don’t want luxury. You want clean sheets, hot showers, and room to stretch out and relax.

The Rockwell Inn guest rooms deliver all this and more. There are standard king and double rooms to basic suites with kitchenettes (great for families or longer trips). The rooms are clean and comfortable with all the amenities you need for a restful stay.

Inside the rooms you’ll find flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, mini fridges, microwaves, and coffee makers, too. The décor is modern but not sterile, with a nod to the western mountain theme with some rustic touches.

One of the best small touches here are the heated bathroom floors. Every bathroom has radiant heating, a small amenity that makes those cold mountain mornings feel more like soaking in your home spa. Each room comes with hair dryers, too, and lots of fluffy towels (not stingy hotel towel sizes here).

Amenities and Features at The Rockwell Inn

The Rockwell Inn isn’t a large resort, but it does have some thoughtful amenities that will make you feel right at home.

Hot Tub

Let’s start with the best. After a day exploring all Grand Teton has to offer or shopping and eating in downtown Jackson, you’re going to need to relax. That’s where the Rockwell’s hot tub comes in. It’s small but mighty. Hot tub jets are strong, the water’s the perfect temp, and it stays open late enough to soak after dinner.

Business Center and Free Wi-Fi

Need to check work emails or print park entry permits? The Rockwell Inn has a small business center near the front desk with computers, printers, and free, fast Wi-Fi throughout the entire property (no sketchy passwords scribbled on the back of the front desk).

Picnic Area

There’s also a picnic area out front. Nothing fancy, just a grassy patch where you can grab takeout from one of Jackson’s many culinary gems and enjoy it in the mountain air.

Parking

Parking is free and plentiful, and something of a rarity in downtown Jackson. You’ll also find coin laundry and luggage storage if you need them, plus a front desk team that’s always happy to offer local restaurant or tour company recommendations.

Breakfast and Restaurants Near The Rockwell Inn

The Rockwell Inn offers a simple continental breakfast that’s more than enough to gear you up for your Grand Teton adventures. Think yogurt, bagels, oatmeal, fruit, and lots of hot coffee.

But the real fun is all around you in Jackson’s vibrant food scene. From cozy cafés to upscale restaurants, you’ll find everything you could possibly want within walking distance. A few of our family faves:

  • The Bunnery – great for pancakes and pastries before a day in the park
  • Merry Piglets – local tex-mex favorite for dinner
  • Snake River Brewing – fantastic pizza and burgers after a day outside

And if you want to stock up on snacks for the road or picnic along Jenny Lake, there’s also a grocery store nearby.

Atmosphere and Service

If we had to sum up our stay at The Rockwell Inn in one word, it would be hospitality. It starts with the atmosphere, which is calm, friendly, and relaxed. But what really stood out was how genuinely kind the staff was.

From the front desk team to housekeeping, everyone we met at The Rockwell Inn seemed genuinely happy to be there and to help.

Need directions to the can’t-miss attractions inside Grand Teton? Ask them. Trying to decide between a quick pizza dinner or fancy steakhouse? They’ll give you a few local-only suggestions. These little touches are what make The Rockwell feel less like a chain hotel and more like a family-run inn.
