Can you believe the year is already coming to an end? Wow. If you are like us, your living room still has wrapping paper carnage and plates of Christmas cookies litter the counter tops. Christmas is glorious.. and exhausting. 

And then less than a week later, BAM– it’s New Year’s Eve! If you are looking for a great option to celebrate the New Year with your kids, these events are sure to be fun! I have done a fair amount of research to include as many fun sounding family friendly New Year’s Eve Celebrations as I can. 

I even included 2 sold out events at the end of the list. Why? So, you can bookmark them for next year!

Countdown to New Years at Noon at this family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration! Help us countdown to 2020 with a celebration including a magical noontime countdown, a juice and cookie toast, festive tunes, and more.

This year, we’ll celebrate the wishes we have for the year ahead while we make magical memories together.

Please prepare for long entry lines and crowds for this event. (that is because this is about as much fun as a kid can have for New Year’s Eve!)

2. Maryland Science Center- Midnight Noon

Everyone’s favorite New Year celebration is back! Celebrate the ball drop before bedtime at the Maryland Science Center at Midnight Noon. Join in the festivities before we rock in the New Year to the tunes of the popular kids band, Milkshake. The entire science center will be open and ready for you to explore. All activities are free with paid admission and completely free to members.

Calling all Earthlings! This is urgent, so you’ve been assigned to a top secret Eco-Investigative agents, where you will help create your own example of an alien for a “Most Wanted Poster”. With the help of live animals, you will ascertain whether these aliens have slime, multiple eyes or limbs, or special adaptations or powers??

There have been recent reports of animal sightings so outlandish, so freakishly different, that there is growing concern about what they are, where they come from, what do they want. Could they be…aliens living among us? Your mission if you choose to accept it is to separate fact from fiction, and determine whether there are aliens living among us!

Our agents will also teach young earthlings how to take care of our Mother Earth by making a vow on how you can help our planet in 2020.

Midnight at noon is a great way to ring in the New Year before bedtime! We’ve got fun crafts, games, spin art and more! Our Artsy Partsy ball drops at 12 o’clock noon on Tuesday December 31st and each participant will help us fill our private courtyard with bubbles!

5. Midnight at 7: Fireworks and Fun!

Join us to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the entire family! We will have food, activities, music and of course fireworks at 7 PM. Don’t miss your last chance to walk through the Symphony of Lights course.

Calling all wizards and witches! Join us for a magical new exhibit at Badlands: A Hogwarts Holiday. Tour Diagon Alley, walk the Hogwarts grounds, celebrate in the Great Hall, and go through trap door to find the Sorcerer’s Stone! Experience the holidays in the Wizarding World! The Charmery’s Kiddie Scoop Ball Drop Continues Tradition!

Is it just us, or does New Year’s seem to get later and later each year. For the sixth year, The Charmery celebrates New Year’s Eve with a ball drop but at 8:30pm – so that everyone in the family can party together! Once again, we host the event as a full blown party at The Charmery’s Ice Cream Factory at Union Collective, so there is tons of space for all sorts of frivolity. 13. Thinkery: A Curiosity Studio- Family New Year’s Eve Bash

We’re hosting a special family event this New Year’s Eve. That’s Tuesday, December 31st, for those of us in the know. 🙂 Stop by anytime after 4:30pm. We’ll do a countdown at 6pm!

We’ll also have sensory stations set up throughout the studio and individual projects for all ages at our craft tables!

14. Chesapeake Children’s Museum New Year’s Eve

Ring in the new year with CCM! CCM will be open until 5:30 so come play, do crafts, then stick around for an early fireworks show, perfect timing for little ones! You can see the fireworks from our parking lot or you can head over to the Weems-Whalen Fields. There will be crafts here all day and crafts at the ball fields from 3-5:30.
