Docking Bay 7 Review: Is It Worth Eating Here?
Is Docking Bay 7 worth it? Here’s my honest review of the food, seating, atmosphere, and why the theming impressed me more than the meal.

I really wanted to love Docking Bay 7.
Seriously.
It’s one of those restaurants that Disney fans rave about, especially if you spend any time reading about food in Galaxy’s Edge.
So when I finally decided to eat here, I was pretty excited.
Unfortunately…
It just didn’t live up to the hype for me.
Now, before all the Star Wars fans come after me, let me say one thing.
I’ve only eaten here once.
I’m completely willing to admit that I could have caught them on an off day, and I absolutely plan to give it another chance on a future trip.
But based on my experience, Docking Bay 7 currently ranks last among the quick service restaurants I’ve reviewed at Hollywood Studios.
That doesn’t mean it’s bad.
It just means I enjoyed every other restaurant more.
The Food Looked Better Than It Tasted
One thing Disney absolutely nailed is the presentation.
Everything looked fantastic.
The meal was colorful, creative, and fit perfectly with the whole Star Wars theme.
Unfortunately…
It just didn’t have much flavor.
I ordered the chicken entrée, along with the famous blueberry cornbread and one of the desserts.
The chicken was my biggest disappointment.
It honestly tasted like it had been sitting for a while before it made its way to my table.
I mean, it wasn’t awful.
It just wasn’t something I’d go out of my way to order again.
I Was Excited About the Blueberry Cornbread
I’d actually heard quite a few people talk about the blueberry cornbread before my trip.
I thought it sounded really unique.
And to be fair…
It is unique… but it just didn’t do much for me.
It wasn’t bad or dry.
But something was just missing.
I kept waiting for that “wow, this is really good” moment…
and it never came.
Even Dessert Didn’t Win Me Over
I also ordered one of Docking Bay 7’s signature desserts.
Again…
It looked fantastic.
Disney always does a great job making Star Wars desserts look like they belong on another planet.
The problem was that, once again, I thought it looked better than it tasted.
If I’m already in Galaxy’s Edge and I’m craving something sweet, I’d honestly rather walk over to Kat Saka’s Kettle and get the Outpost Mix.
Or…
I’ll just save room for dessert somewhere else in Hollywood Studios.
That was probably the biggest theme of this meal.
Nothing was bad.
Nothing made me excited, either.
I Honestly Hope My Next Visit Changes My Mind
One thing I don’t want this review to come across as is…
“Never eat here.”
That’s not what I’m saying.
In fact, I hope my next meal here is completely different.
Sometimes restaurants have off days… or you order the wrong thing.
And I admit that sometimes your expectations are just too high.
Any of those could have happened here.
All I can tell you is that, based on the meal I had, Docking Bay 7 didn’t live up to what I’d heard from everyone else.
But…
The food is only one part of the story.
Because there is one thing about Docking Bay 7 that Disney absolutely knocked out of the park.
The restaurant itself.
Disney Absolutely Nailed the Theming
If we’re judging Docking Bay 7 based on atmosphere, it would be near the top of my list.
Like everything else in Galaxy’s Edge, Disney completely committed to the story.
In fact, the first time I came looking for the restaurant, I almost walked right past it.
It blends so naturally into Black Spire Outpost that it feels like it’s always been there.
Once you step inside, it really does feel like you’re eating at a cargo dock on another planet.
Even if the food wasn’t my favorite, I can absolutely appreciate the amount of detail Disney put into the restaurant itself.
It’s another reminder that Imagineering rarely misses when it comes to theming.
It Has One Big Advantage
If you’ve read my other restaurant reviews, you probably know what’s coming.
Air conditioning.
Unlike Ronto Roasters, where you’re grabbing your food and eating outside, Docking Bay 7 has a large indoor dining room.
And when it’s ninety-five degrees outside?
That matters.
A lot.
There’s also plenty of seating, which is something I always appreciate at Disney.
I never felt rushed, and it was nice to sit down, cool off, and take a break from walking around Hollywood Studios.
Honestly, if someone told me they wanted to eat here simply because they needed a comfortable place to escape the heat for a while, I completely understand that.
If you’re mainly looking for something sweet, I’d actually skip dessert here and save room for one of the best snacks at Hollywood Studios instead.
A Few Tips Before You Go
If you’re planning to eat here, I’d still recommend using Mobile Order.
It’s quick, it’s easy, and it saves standing in another line.
I’d also go in with an open mind.
Just because my meal didn’t knock my socks off doesn’t mean yours won’t.
If there’s something on the menu that really catches your eye, I’d say go for it.
Disney changes menus from time to time, and there’s every chance you’ll have a completely different experience than I did.
That’s actually one of the reasons I plan to come back someday.
I’d like another chance to see if my opinion changes.
Is Docking Bay 7 Worth It?
I think that depends on what you’re looking for.
If you’re looking for the best quick service meal at Hollywood Studios…
I’d send you to Woody’s Lunch Box.
If you’re looking for great food and air conditioning…
I’d probably recommend ABC Commissary.
If you’re looking for one of my favorite meals in Galaxy’s Edge…
I’d point you toward Ronto Roasters.
But if you’re a huge Star Wars fan and you want to experience one of the most immersive restaurants Disney has ever built…
Docking Bay 7 is still worth visiting.
For me, the atmosphere was better than the meal.
For someone else, it might be the exact opposite.

- The food didn’t live up to my expectations
- Everything looked better than it tasted
- I’d choose Ronto Roasters over Docking Bay 7 every time
Final Thoughts
I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews.
Honestly, I’d much rather tell you that every restaurant at Disney is fantastic.
But that wouldn’t be very helpful.
The whole point of these reviews is to share my actual experience, and my experience at Docking Bay 7 just wasn’t all that memorable.
Would I eat here again?
Yes.
Mostly because I’m curious to see if I simply caught them on an off day.
But if someone asked me where they should eat in Hollywood Studios tomorrow, this wouldn’t be my recommendation.
I’d send them to Woody’s Lunch Box.
Or ABC Commissary.
Or even Ronto Roasters if they were already spending the day in Galaxy’s Edge.
That doesn’t mean Docking Bay 7 is a bad restaurant.
It just means there are several others I’d choose first.
And honestly?
I think that’s okay.
Not every restaurant has to be your favorite.
Sometimes it’s enough to appreciate the incredible atmosphere, enjoy the air conditioning, and remember that even at Disney, not every meal is going to be a home run.
