As we reflect on the year’s past and start to make our new year’s resolutions, we may be a little stuck. The same reflections of losing weight or building a new habit don’t end up making us feel as happy as we’d hoped.
We’re then left disappointed and unfulfilled. Instead, this year, I challenge you to find a new year’s resolution that will bring you more joy and less stress! If you need some inspiration, here are ten new year’s resolutions that will bring you more joy in the new year.
Spend less time on social media
Social media has a way of sucking us in and feeling worse about ourselves. No matter how much we do to improve, it can sometimes make us feel worse. Spending less time on social media is never a bad thing; trust me.
Set a bedtime and stick to it
Getting enough sleep can significantly impact your life and even help you feel more energized for the day! To ensure you’re getting enough sleep each night, set a bedtime for yourself and stick with it each night.
Spend more time with your kids
If your kids are begging you to play or want your attention, give in a little! Your kids will be grown up before you know it. You’ll be glad you spent the extra time with your kids.
Drink more water
Whether you know it or not, most of us are dehydrated! You should aim to have at least eight glasses of water a day. Grab yourself a huge water bottle and work on it a little each day.
Find a hobby that brings you joy
Sometimes our hobbies don’t make us happy. They end up being more work than we bargained for and in turn, stressing us out. Find something that makes you happy, and don’t be ashamed to stick with it!
Volunteer for a cause that’s important to you
The time you spend volunteering for others is priceless! Find a cause or organization that you care about and make it your goal to volunteer there regularly.
Make regular date nights with your spouse
No matter how busy you are, plan a regular date night with your spouse each week. The time you spend reconnecting with be worth the effort!
Take a vacation
We all need time to recharge our batteries! Take the time to get away for a few days and really relax and enjoy yourself.
Reconnect with an old friend
This year, make it your goal to spend more time with your friends. Find an old friend who you’ve lost touch with and reconnect with them this year.
Read one book per month
Whether you read a paperback book or listen to an audiobook, find the time to read at least one book each month.
