5 Super Festive Christmas Markets In Maryland
These Christmas Markets in Maryland are super festive and the perfect way to find that unique and perfect gift for your loved ones this season!
With the holiday season upon us, it’s time to search for that perfect gift to bring a beautiful smile to a certain someone’s face. Or, maybe you want to find some new ornaments or decorations.
Maybe, you just want to see what’s out there for the season. Maryland’s holiday markets and bazaars can help you with that. With several cities home to Christmas markets that range from one-day boutiques to month-long festivals, you’ll find that perfect market to spend a day or two at and come home with bags of Christmas cheer.
Maryland Christmas Show – Frederick
The Frederick fairgrounds are the home to this year’s Maryland Christmas Show Nov. 22-24 and Nov. 29-Dec. 1. With dozens of vendors available offering seasonal gift ideas – ornaments, decorations and more – as well as home décor ideas and arts and crafts, the Maryland Christmas Show covers many of your holiday needs.
You’ll want to shop for your holiday treats at the food pavilion with several treats and desserts available. The two-weekend event takes care of many Christmas gift ideas. You’ll want to visit both weekends – and don’t hesitate on buying gifts – because the same vendors won’t be there each time.
Holiday Sugarloaf Crafts Festival – Gaithersburg
A true arts and crafts fair, Gaithersburg’s Holiday Sugarloaf Crafts Festival offers an opportunity for shoppers to take care of their holiday gift-giving ideas. With more than 400 booths, you’ll find items from holiday-themed ornaments and decorations, as well as home accessories, clothes and apothecary goods.
Artists will also offer items such as wood and metal sculptures, paintings and photographs. More than two dozen booths feature food and drink, including homemade donuts, herbs and spices, as well as wine. The three-day event takes place Nov. 22-24.
Christmas Village – Baltimore
In Europe, weeks-long outdoor Christmas markets truly ring in the holiday season. With Christkind (giver of gifts), the markets are a bevy of holiday-themed vendors, such as ornaments, decorations and traditional food. Today, Baltimore carries on that tradition with the Christmas Village in the Inner Harbor. Running from Thanksgiving Day until Dec. 24, about 50 vendors provide seasonal items, including holiday-themed decorations and ornaments as well as German-style food and condiments.
Shoppers find all kinds of goods at the indoor and outdoor village, including toys, jewelry, clothes and arts and crafts. With Santa Claus in town to visit with children abut their holiday wish lists, a trip to the Baltimore Christmas Village is the perfect way to celebrate the advent season. The village will host a sneak peek weekend Nov. 23-24, and the Christkind from the Nuremburg, Germany, market will officially kick off the celebration Dec. 1.
Kris Kringle Christmas Market – La Plata
The Kris Kringle Christmas Market combines the best of the holiday season – Santa Claus, Christmas tree lighting and shopping! The three-day event Dec. 13-15 kicks off with Santa’s arrival on Friday, along with the official tree lighting ceremony.
While the kids visit Santa Claus and discuss the world’s issues – such as the perfect gift they want – you can head over to the market where dozens of vendors offer holiday-themed gift ideas, from ornaments to home décor. Make sure to stop at the concession area and enjoy a nice meal or treat. The Christmas market includes a live nativity scene and music.
Christmas Market – Towson
Kicking off the holiday season Nov. 15-17 in Towson, the Christmas Market helps you get a jump start on your holiday gift-giving plans. With vendors selling holiday-related items, such as ornaments and decorations, as well as a variety of items, you may also find some ideas for stocking stuffers. From an old-fashion German Christmas market to local festivals, Maryland knows how to celebrate the holiday season. As you head off to your version of the North Pole in search of elves to help you find the perfect gifts, take time to enjoy a few treats and maybe a nice cup of hot chocolate…as well as a gift or two for yourself.
