Visit Old Faithful (of course!)
Old Faithful is the largest active geyser in the world and gets many visitors every year. This is a must-see on your list, but don’t forget to head to Grand Prismatic Hot Spring and step inside the third largest hot spring in the world.
Hit the Water
If you want to hit the water, consider taking a paddling trip or raft down the rivers. There are plenty of lakeside geysers to paddle near or just head down the river and take in the scenery.
Experience Cowboy Life
Yellowstone is in the middle of cowboy country. You can take a break and visit a rodeo or watch an Old West gunfight. These are just some of the many cowboy-inspired activities you can do here.
Take in the Wildlife
Yellowstone is home to more wild animals than anywhere else in the U.S. You will find animals roaming around the park in their natural habitat. You can see bears, marmots, wolves, eagles, swans, moose, wild horses, and tons of bison herds here. The best places to catch wildlife are Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley. However, you will likely see wildlife all over the park… just keep an eye out!

Old Faithful is not the only geyser worth seeing. Check out Norris Geyser Basin, Mid Geyser Basin, the rest of the geothermals in the Upper Geyser Basin, or even Mammoth Hot Springs!

The Yellowstone National Park gateway towns like West Yellowstone, Cody, Gardiner, and Cooke City have so many family-friendly attractions to visit– from kid favorites like the Bear and Wolf Discovery Center to rodeos or even just great restaurants.
Take a Hike
There are so many easy trails and walking paths in Yellowstone. Hike to Fairy Falls (or at least up to the Midway Geyser Basin overlook), or check out some of the many trails that give vistas of Yellowstone Falls (Uncle Tom’s Trail is a great option). There are easy trails at Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs area, and the road out to Roosevelt Lodge as well!
See a Roadside Waterfall!
Yellowstone is home to quite a few gorgeous waterfalls. Yellowstone Falls is clearly the most famous, but don’t forget to check out Undine Falls, Wraith Falls, Fairy Falls, Tower Falls, or Mystic Falls.
Check out the Visitor Centers
There are numerous visitor and education centers throughout the park in most of the major tourist areas. These visitor centers are great for learning about the wildlife, geothermals, and more!
Set up Camp
If you want to get the whole experience of Yellowstone, start by spending a night under the stars! You can stay in one of the many campsites inside or near the park. You can also camp out in the backcountry if you want to try remote camping.
