Here we are, another week has come and gone. Wow, where does the time fly, right? Anyhow, here is your Sunshine for the Week. Read below for the story behind the picture and other thoughts.
Sunshine for Your Week
All over Europe (or at least Germany and the Czech Republic), you will see locks hanging from the wire fences and grates that form the walls of bridges. This might be a fad that has long since passed (I hope not) but I really love it– a couple will go to the bridge, pledge their love for each other, hang the lock onto the bridge, and then throw away the key. This is a modern day version of pledging love and devotion to each other. This particular picture was taken in Cologne, Germany on a bridge that probably had tens of thousands of locks. It was beautiful!
And what about the sentiment? The scripture? Well, you know– sometimes it is just nice to have a reminder that love really is the great connector. In a world and time where we are bombarded with ways to fight, to escalate conflict, to create divisions… love, in particular Godly love, stands in stark contrast and offers an alternative… a beautiful, grace-filled alternative for how we should treat each other.
Goodness knows I need that reminder on a daily basis. How about you?
Thanks for reading and check back in next Monday morning for another ‘Sunshine for Your Week!’

I’ve never heard of this lock & key tradition. Thanks for sharing the sunshine!

Thank you! I hope you have a fantastic week!
1 John 3:16
16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
I’ve had two good reads this morning: your blog above and the Verse for the Day from a Bible Reading Site. What a great way to start my day!!
