Field Day Games

Outdoor Fun With Open Space

Planning the perfect field day starts with finding an open area to play in. The easiest way to organize a field day is right at home if you have a backyard that can support s day of outdoor play. However, local parks usually provide the best open space for a field day with kids. depending on how spacious and accommodating your park is, you will need to plan for a certain amount of social distancing.

So, put a little bit of time into picking what park to visit if you have options in your area. The wider and more open the space, the better, especially if you can find a park that doesn’t usually see a lot of visitors.

Organizing Time Outside

When you plan a neighborhood field day you need to consider the space as well as refreshments and UV protection. You also need some equipment for fun activities and games to play while you are out. Part of the fun of getting outside is packing a picnic lunch full of treats.

Make sure you have some folding chairs and can make your own shade even if your park provides shelter. You want to be able to be comfortable, even if you are edged out of the prime locations by people who got their first. If you have everything prepared beforehand and already packed in the car, it’s easier to get to the park before anybody else and claim the good spots like covered picnic tables with a grill.

Outdoor Water Fun

It’s important to have things to do when you arrive at your field day. One of the best summer activities to enjoy outside is to have some fun with water, any way you can. Water balloons are an easy way to incorporate water into the open-air fun if you don’t have access to a hose, you can use water balloons to supe up a game of tag, or create games with water balloons using buckets for targets.

An alternative to water balloons is tossing around soaking wet sponges. When you pick your outdoor location, consider the water source and what you can do. You may even have access to play fountains, which are a fun way to cool off on a hot afternoon.

Backyard Games

Backyard games are the best form of structured outdoor fun. If you have outdoor games handy, make sure you do any set up you need in advance, so it doesn’t get in the way of the fun of your field day. If you don’t have any outdoor games, don’t worry. They are some of the easiest things to DIY.

Just consider the amount of space you have to play in and pick a game that allows you to take in some fresh air and be a little bit active. If you don’t have any games, bring along some sports equipment, RC toys, or a good old fashioned kite.

Backyard Activities

The important thing with any outdoor game is that you get to enjoy the outdoor space.
