These Black Owned businesses in Maryland are very kid friendly– play spaces, restaurants, and services for kids and families.

One of the best things about living and playing in Maryland is the diversity of Maryland. There are so many cultures and diversity throughout the greater Maryland community and region. One of the deepest cultural influences though is the African-American community.

To celebrate and amplify Black owned kid friendly businesses in Maryland, I put together this list of businesses that cater to families and kids.

I hope you enjoy this list and continue to celebrate the richness and diversity of the Maryland community!

1. Hyper Kidz

If you asked a group of kids to design the most fun indoor playground they could dream of, they likely would have come up with a place like Hyper Kidz Indoor Playground in Columbia, MD. For real… we have visited Hyper Kidz many times since they opened up (including hosting our daughter’s birthday party there), and we have a blast every time.

Since they first opened a few years ago, Hyper Kidz has expanded to Ashburn, VA and a soon to be opened location in Owings Mills. Want to know more? Check out our review here.

2. Kidz City

Kidz City is a great new indoor place option in Odenton. The playspace is bright and open with numerous play stations like giant LEGO bricks, a basketball court, baby play area, and an indoor playspace city (it’s super adorable). Kidz City is available for open play and birthday parties!

The building was purchased, renovated, and renamed in honor of Araminta “Minty” Ross, later known as Harriet Tubman, who was born in Dorchester County.
