There are always going to be days when you’re stuck indoors. It might be too cold outside, bad weather, or you just need to spend the day inside.

Regardless of how you ended up here, you and your family are now stuck inside for the day. Your first thought might be to spend the day catching up on TV or playing games on the computer, but there are a ton of really fun indoor activities that don’t involve any electronics or devices!

Celebrate New Year's Day At Home

There are a few board games that include electronics or the TV, but there are also a wide variety of board games you can play that don’t require any electronics or devices!

Games such as Monopoly, Trouble, UNO, Sequence, or even the classic game of Pictionary are all really fun ways to spend the day indoors. 

Bake something from scratch

Baking can be a fun way to spend the day indoors, but it can also but a really fun family activity. Get the whole family involved and make something from scratch.

Pizza dough, muffins, biscuits, or even bread can be a really fun way to spend your afternoon! If you want to take this a step further, you could even do a little meal prep as a family and get cooking.

Have a paper airplane contest

Grab a few sheets of paper and see who can make the best paper airplane! This is a really fun activity and you can get really creative with them! You can even break out the craft supplies and see who can decorate the best airplane as well.

Read a book together

If you want, you could also have independent reading time, but reading together as a family is also a really fun bonding activity that your whole family will enjoy! Pick an appropriate book for the whole family and read it together! You can take turns reading, or you can be the one to read it to your kids.

Break out your best costumes and dress up clothes and put on a play! This can be a really fun activity to do that doesn’t involve any electronics whatsoever! Have each person come up with their own character and see what kind of fun play you can make!

You could even take this a step further and create a script for your play. At the end of the day, put on a performance and enjoy some free theatre at home! 

 

Create a small family band

You don’t need musical instruments in order to have a family band! Beans in a jar and your own voice can make some pretty interesting tunes! This is a great way to get a little bit creative and even write a “hit” song with your family.
