Guess Who?

Families with preschoolers may avoid family game night because they think there isn’t a fun game that everyone in the family can enjoy. But Guess Who is the exception. This game is perfect for young kids, but not so simple that older kids and adults can’t enjoy it too. To play, each family member will pick a character, then the other family members ask questions about that character’s appearance to try identify the others’ secret character.

Uno

As long as your kids know their numbers, they can play Uno. Simply deal out the deck and try to beat the card that’s being played to be the first to run out of cards. And while this game is simple at it’s core, competitive families will have a blast trying to win this fun family game.

Sorry!

This simple game is always a hit with families. Younger kids can easily grasp the concept of Sorry – move your token around the board toward “home” – while also having a ton of fun trying to stop everyone else from making it to their destination.

Sequence

Similar to kid-favorite strategy games like Tic-Tac-Toe or Connect Four, in Sequence players try to piece together colored chips in a straight line. But what makes this game fun for the whole family is that players must draw cards to determine where their pieces can be placed, forcing players to use just a little bit of strategy combined with the luck of the draw to be successful.

Qwirkle

Similar to more the more advanced vocabulary game, Scrabble, Qwirkle uses the concept of pattern making instead of words. That makes this fun board game perfect for family game night because even the youngest players can grasp the concept of creating a pattern while older players can use their creative thinking skills to develop more advanced patterns (and higher scores).

HedBanz

If you’re looking for a silly game for your family to enjoy together, HedBanz is a great choice. Similar to Guess Who, HedBanz tasks players with asking yes or no questions to determine the card placed on their headband. Be the first to guess correctly to win the game.

Apples to Apples Jr.

While most of the games on this list are perfect for family game night no matter the age of the players, this fun word game is best played with older kids since it requires players to have a firm grasp of the English language. In Apples to Apples, players must decide which nouns best fit the adjective described on the card. And your family will have a blast arguing each side in this fun, subjective game!

Blokus

This is a fantastic strategy game where players have to see how many pieces they can get on the board before they run out of space!

Battleship

You sunk my battleship! This is such a fun and classic game for 2 players. Even younger kids will be able to play it and it really helps kids with logic and strategy!

Hoot Hoot Owl

This is a true cooperative game and it’s surprisingly challenging, but perfect for kids ages 3-6 or 7. You have to get all the owls home before the sun goes down. Can you do it together?

Outfoxed

This is a lovely cooperative board game where players try to figure out who is the traitor. It mimics Clue but for a younger crowd.

Silly Street

Scrabble Jr.

This version of Scrabble is perfect for early readers! There are even two versions of Scrabble Jr. so the game can grow as your kids’ reading ability grows.
