What, another Mom Blog?

Hi and welcome to my new blog, Sunshine Whispers!

So, perhaps you are thinking, ‘Yep… that is exactly what the world needs, another Mommy blog.’ Guilty as charged. I don’t know what exactly inspired me to start this blog and start it now. However, here are some of the reasons… in no particular order:

  1. I love Pinterest. I love perusing all the great ideas (and not so great ideas) from other Moms on how to raise kids with tons of love, magical moments, laughter, and a strong sense of the importance of faith, family, and friends.
  2. I love Instagram and in particular I love the beautiful world my sister Erin has created on Instagram while raising her daughter. Check her out by the way: !
  3. Before my daughter was born, I was told that my life would spiral into a baby-focused maelstrom that I would not emerge from until she was about 2 years old. Well, guess what? Someone’s 2nd birthday is just around the corner and you know what? I am emerging.

  4. One of the things I love most in life is teaching and mentoring. I am really pretty passionate about it actually. So, if this blog can inform or inspire even one Mom out there, I will be very satisfied.

  5. I know that as a Mom, I feel isolated and alone… a lot. And that doesn’t mean I don’t have great friends and a loving and attentive husband. I do! It’s just that sometimes being a Mom is well, isolating. I hope this blog helps other Moms feel more connected.

  6. I know there are lots of Mom blogs, and I know there are plenty of working Mom blogs as well. There aren’t as many Christian Working Mom blogs though… and I wanted to add my voice to the mix in hopes that it gives Christian working Moms more of a voice.

  7. I just finished teaching a rather long Woman’s Bible Study series and realized it would be great material to put online. Voila! Material for the blog!

  8. I want the challenge and accountability of launching a blog and working to make it a success. My hope is that as I try out ideas for blog posts, my family will be challenged to be more active and try new things. As I develop devotional series for the Quiet Time area of the blog, I hope to be challenged in my own faith. Same thing for the Mom Time and Time to Work areas of the blog.

  9. I think it will be fun!

  10. I can’t wait to see who I get to know by joining this online community of Mommy bloggers! Let’s go!

So, that pretty much sums it up. A blog about a Christian Working Mom who lives by grace, loves her family and friends fiercely, and is always up for a great time! I know that for every aspect of raising a child there are about a gazillion opinions about the right way to do it. I am not going to try and tell you what to do. I firmly believe that most Moms love their children deeply and want what is best for them. The tricky thing is that all kids are different and really.. all Moms are too. Isn’t that great? If you like an idea I have or a recommendation I make, awesome! If that doesn’t work for your family… no worries. I hope you find what works best for you and in the meantime, I hope what you read here makes you smile.

Thanks for checking out sunshinewhispers!
