Death Star Paper Plate Craft For Kids

Death Star Paper Plate Craft For Kids

This Death Star Paper Plate Craft for Kids is super cool and not scary at all. Young Star Wars fans will love making this fun and easy craft!

I remember sitting in a musky theater when I was 5 or 6 years old, absolutely terrified the first time I saw the Death Star. Star Wars had me completely mesmerized anyway but the Death Star had me gripping my chair. Maybe it was the music of the Imperial Storm-troopers. Perhaps it was because Darth Vader had just suffocated one of the Imperial generals to death. Or, you know… maybe it was because the Death Star could destroy entire planets.

There was literally nothing scarier than the Death Star.

Not that I really want to scare my kids, but come on.. isn’t this the coolest craft ever? This Death Star is not scary at all, but it would be great for any kid who loves Star Wars! It’s a relatively simple craft to make too. Younger kids might need a little help with cutting out the pieces of the Death Star, but otherwise this would be a super fun craft to do with kids of all ages!

How to make the paper plate Death star craft

  1. Print out the PDF Craft Template (you can download it here) and cut out the pieces. This would be excellent scissor skill practice for a preschooler or early elementary school student!

  1. Note: Depending on your printer and your plate, the circle, rectangles, and squares included in the template might need to be trimmed. In the example shown here, there are 17 squares and 5 rectangles. However, the squares and rectangles in the template might be a little on the large side. That is easy to fix. Just trim them to the size you want for your Death Star craft. The same thing holds true for the main Death Star circle. The circle(s) included might be too big. If that is the case, just trim it to the desired size.
  2. Once everything is cut out, you can arrange the pieces on the paper plate until you figure out the configuration you like. There is no right or wrong way to do this. And your kids can use their imagination too!

  1. Paint the paper plate gray and allow to dry completely. Note: You will want to paint the back of the plate instead of the front of the plate. This way the Death Star will appear round.. as opposed to concave.
  2. Once the glue is dried, arrange the Death Star pieces again and glue them on.

7. Allow the craft to dry completely before playing or displaying.
